2 stroke vs 4 stroke hp

On another website that I was reading a 4 stroke making the same hp as a 2 stroke will beat a 2 stroke, and that the 2 stroke will need to make more hp because of the way the 4 stroke makes its power. I believe it has to do with the torque is made so much earlier. Just wanting to know if that is true? And all other things being equal.

70 hp Banshee = rideable and reliable

70 hp YFZ = ticking time bomb (Hell, Both '04 and '05 stock YFZ=ticking time bomb in my experience!)

Also, 70 hp YFZ = $$$$$$$$$$

I know that a 2 stroke will show bigger numbers on a dyno. If you were to line them up and race how much more hp would the 2 stroke have to make to be equal with a 4 stroke.

I know that it takes alot more $ for a 4 stroke to make good #'s, and thats fine because I will let the other guy spend the money on the 4 stroke.

Basically, it all comes down to traction. You can have all the HP in the world, and it won't do you any good, if it's not hooked up to the racing surface. There are a lot more factors to winning a drag race, than just torque, and HP.

All other things being equal...

My friends stock bore/stock stroke KENZ built Raptor 700 put down 74hp and 54ft lbs at the wheels after he got he got it built and tuned...My Banshee has a fully drag ported 421 cub with all the bells and whistles on it. On paper my bike should make atleast 15 more HP than the 700, but in the real world he gives me everything I can handle and more. This is dragging on sand..uphill and flats

We trade wins all day long with each other. He's 230lbs I'm 200lbs...We both admit my shee pulls slightly ahead on the very, very, top end...Maybe a bike length up the hill.

I would put my money on the 4 stroke if they both made the same "peak" HP on a dyno.

4 stroke 33tq and 2 stroke 35tq

Not possible! a 50hp 4 stroke will have way more torque than a 60hp 2 stroke. That's pretty close to what my Banshee and YFZ run for hp. As far as which is faster it all depends on how far you're going. The banshee will take the YFZ off the line, but once you get into 4th the YFZ will overtake it.....but if you keep going the banshee will make up the ground again.
