quadicted
I know after you polish the steel you have to hi-temp clear coat, wear do you get this? and do you use a spray grease to help remain polish and protect. if i went this rout i was thinking about painting the FMF symbol blue to make it pop has any one done this, thanks for all your help guys This product contains a material that is said to work as a protective for the polished material. I have used it and I am realy amased. Try taking out the rust but be sure there isnt any left and then aply more than three coats of this stuff. Believe me you will not need to rechrome your pipes. With less than 10 bucks and a litle time I got my pipes look better than new.
bansheesandrider
According to FMF website, dirt bike pipes are nickel plated and ATV pipes are chrome. It has to be the crappiest chrome available though Both the FMF Fattys that were on my wife's old Banshee and the FMF Fatty that is on my kids Blaster were nickel plated, definitely no chrome. Bansh-eman
Alot of places that advertise as chrome are actually nickle plated. They give off a more of a golden tint. There are places that will do used pipes but they usually cost quite a bit and are hard to come by becasue they do not want to contaminate the tank. There is a guy on here that goes by the user name bk_banshee he did alot of chrome for me. He may be able to help you out. He also does aluminum chrome. He costs more than your local chrome dipper, but his work was top notch!

onjacks
Just got back an email from, http://performanceatvandcycle.com/ He said 125.00 per pipe + shipping. ( just the head pipes) FMF 3 week down time. I told him they were used, high heat powdercoated etc. My highheat powder came off, by the jugs after one ride. sounds pretty fair if the work is flawless. 300.00 seems high if the work aint top notch.
