MX big gore

I dont know if you will be able to find an aftermarket big bore cylinder for mx use. A true mx buil has an emphisis on low end. You can gain a lot of power by porting but it is the wrong kind of power. You dont want a high rpm screamer on an mx track cause it wont have the low end you need to pull out of corners.

Since you can gain so much power by porting most aftermarket cylinders come with at least roughly a dune port.

If your truely building a mx banshee then I would do a mx ported 4 mill before I would run a stock stroke aftermarket cylinder.

Maybe some one will chim in that knows of an aftermarket cylinder that isnt ported verry agressivley. You might talk to Passion Racing Engines. He has built some pretty fast flat track (short track) engines. They need to have a smooth torq down low so they dont spin the tires coming out of the corners.

we usually buy cub motors and re-sleeve them, then lower all the porting down in them to bring the power down into the low-mid range. Everything out there in a big bore aftermarket cylinder usually uses durations that are suited to mid-top setups.

I´m definitely not an expert here but how about Twister-block? I have heard that they are not in drag durations when out of box.

I don´t know but maybe there is a chance to port them to give a little more to down low??

I´m thinking that those Twisters are going to be my choice to replace my stockers when ever I need to buy a set of aftermarkets.

How about 10 mill stock cyl´s?? :headbang:

I really don´t know and I have never ask it from nobody.

That´s why I used the words like "I´m definitely not an expert here " and "...how about Twister-block?"

and "...I don´t know but maybe there is a chance" and "...to port them to give a little more to down low??"

Maybe I have understood it incorrectly.

I have read that when comparing CUBs and Twisters, the CUB will make more power when out of box.

They say that you need to work more with Twisters and I undestund that means porting.

When you have to port something to give more power, that means you have to work with the shapes, sizes, angles and durations.

If you have to do this that means that there might be a chance to have a tad more down low and lose some from top.

Maybe it´s my English-Finnish-English-Finnish with all the understanding.

Can someone tell what aftermarket cylinders will work in MX and Trails??

hmm 10 mill pv cheeta sounds interesting.. but in all honesty i think it would almost be too much power for mx racing.. not sure on tt/ flat track..

i'd seriously look into a 4 stroke for MX you will not get as tired and be able to ride much faster for much longer. plus the weight savings are huge anymore.

Well I´m not looking a MX set up. I´m riding on MX tracks not because I want to but those are basicly only legal places to ride.

When my bike was stock (motor wise) i could keep up my friends 4 strokes.

One of my special friend has convince me that the Banshee is not for a low end stuff and I do believe him.

big 4 strokes will murder any banshee in the TQ department. dollar for dollar if you want TQ either build a powervalve motor, or a large 4 stroke. 727 raptor (660 based) or 700+ raptor with mods. or a properly built 450 will have the advantage to just about any banshee in a real world mx racing.. unless you train your ass off a banshee is just not going to really do you very good yea its fast in the straights. but the chassis, weight, and ergo's just stink..

now a banshee motor IN a yfz frame might be a lil different story? a 68mm cheeta PV motor in a yfz chassis is on my someday list.. might take me a few years to get it done and realized but i will do it some day.

I have test drive my friends YFZ 450, LT-450R and Raptor 700. -Yes! They are way better in tight turns and jumps.

But I feel mutch better on my Banshee. I have adjust the handebars and suspension for me.

I think if someone takes it really seriously, the Banshee can be build up for serious low mid power and good handling.
