SLOPOKE21
I JUST PUT AN HJR 4MIL CUB IN MY BIKE AND SINCE THEN THE CLUTCH HAS BEEN CRAZY HARD TO PULL. I DID PUT NEW FIBERS, STEELS, AND SPRING IN IT. I KNOW THAT ITS GONNA BE STIFF AND SHOULD BE PRETTY CATCHY FOR A BIT BUT I THINK THAT SOMETHING ELSE IS WRONG. I FOLLOWED THE MANUAL TO THE "T" AND MY MARKS ARE LINED UP AND THE LEVER IS GOOD SO IS THERE ANYTHING THAT I COULD HAVE DONE WRONG TO CAUSE THIS WHEN I REASSEMBLED THE CASES. EVEN WHEN I TIGHTEN THE CABLE ALL THE WAY UP IT STILL DOESN'T DISENGAGE ENOUGH FOR ME TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND I HAVE TO GAS IT WHEN I PUT IT IN GEAR LIKE THERE IS NOT EVEN A CLUTCH THERE. I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO GO WITH THIS PROBLEM AS IVE TAKEN THE CLUTCH BACK OUT AND CHECKED EVERYTHING. IM GOING TO ORDER A NEW CABLE AND LEVER AND START FROM THERE. Sounds like you may have tightened your springs a little much? Did you try and loosen them a bit?
rubberneck
Lube the hell out of the cable, it will make a HUGE difference. I ran a FAST clutch on my 421 with 6 HD springs and i lube it before each trip. try it, you will be amazed
Larry's Shee
Did you soak the fibers in trans oil before putting it together?
VegasJeff
the fibers might be a little thicker than the old wore out ones,so the center adjuster on the pressure plate might need some adjusting?
locogato11283
Sounds like you may have tightened your springs a little much? Did you try and loosen them a bit? look, youre alright and all but this is bogus fucking info. if you dont know what youre talking about then please, keep it to yourself. that said, the clutch arm and the mark on the cases is NOT always right. mine dont line up like the manual says they should. does your clutch lever have any free play in it? if not, and you cant get any free play by adjusting it on the clutch perch, your pancake bearing(if you have one) is not adjusted properly. forget about the clutch arm and the marks on the case. i always set the pancake bearing adjustment about halfway and install the pressure plate. then before i put it back together i make sure its got adjustment both ways on the clutch perch. it sounds like you need to pull the clutch cover and adjust your push rod adjuster.
