BigMatt
My rear suspention sags bad, I'm 6'4'' 280lb I know poor banshee, is there any quick fix, or a shock swap? thanks, Matt
shanYE west
only thing you can do that is a quick fix is tighten up the preload.. Other then that, you might want to look into getting your shock rebuilt/setup for your weight and riding style.
bbcmudtruck
You will never be able to just tighten the preload if your 280! You can spend about $125 and put a heavier spring on it, or you can spend about $350 to have it resprung, revalved and rebuilt to your weight and riding style. I personally wouldn't pay that kind of money on a stock shock again. If you can find a nice used Elka for $400 or so you would be way ahead in the long run. shanYE west
lol I didn't say it was a permanent fix. But it will help a bit until the problem is fixed. When Elka or works rebuilds them.. they use thier own internals and it is a upgrade to the stock internals. Its still cheaper then a used fully adjustable rear shock. Notice I said Fully adjustable. You probably wont find any fully adjustable rear shocks around 350-400. Just some food for thought and something to consider.
BigMatt
I was thinking about machining a billet spacer between the shock body and the spring. untill I buy a new one.
wacko2000
I would just bite the bullet, send the rear shock out and have it done. Its one of the best suspension mods i did to my shee. I used to have some sag, wasnt all that bad, but i figured while i was doing the front end i would just do it all at once. I sent mine to Works, in my opinion they did a great job, used all there parts, all new internals and a new spring. Rear shocks are expensive, the shee shock is a good shock so for like 350 bucks ya cant beat it Good luck
GrMeyer
The more you move down the preload on the sping. The less travel you have. So the best bet is to just have it Resprung and valved for you. I bet (100%) that the rear shock is shot anyways.

I have a 44t in the rear and have a 12t up front, I was going to buy a 52t rear sproket but im not sure if it will clear the stock skid plate. do you guys have any idea? I do mostly trail and field riding up in northern Michigan Edited January 26, 2010 by BigMatt
Building my First
A 12/52, holy shit. You really like the low end power, a stock Blaster will probably have more top speed, unless you have 25" tires. I ran a 12/45 before and the 45 barely cleard the stock skid even with the nylon guard out. It was too slow, was hitting top speed too often and I run in a little bit of everything. locogato11283
I was thinking about machining a billet spacer between the shock body and the spring. untill I buy a new one. call FAST and get an eibach spring for your weight. that will take care of most of your problems. jlevasseur
I would just spend the $95 bucks for a Ibach spring and put it on your stock shock, that is what I have on my play bike with a six over swing arm, I'm 6'3" 290 and it works great for the dunes. I also send a shock out to works to get revalved and reworked and it was over $500.00 not including powdercoating the spring or polishing the shock, In that case I would just spend a couple more hundred and get the full billet work shock. The eibach spring works great for up to a +6 swing arm. Who ever was talking about the gearing 12/44 or what ever is super and I mean super low. I think my ATC 70 would have a faster top end speed. I have a 13-41 on my play bike, its a 5 mil stock cyclinder with 12 paddle ultra lite tires, I run stock gearing 14-41 with the 9 paddle super lites I have, and that is plenty low gearing. Hope this helps. What tires, swing arm are you running? And style of riding you do plus were you ride also would help figure out what set up you need. Thanks and good luck

Thanks and good luck I mostly trail ride there nice turns top speed is around 45 to 50mph, average is about 40mph, fun trails! I have spider tracs love em to bad they stoped making them, swing arm is stock but I have a +2 just waiting to put it on. I was thinking if I put a longer swing arm on wont that be more leverage to sag more?
GrMeyer
If you go to a longer swing then it will = to be more force on the spring. So in turn needing to up the preload. In most cases going to a new spring. But I have a buddy that got away just by adding preload. But is on the fine line of having to soft of a spring. AKheathen
what kind of pipes are you running what size tires? perhaps you can have a different shock link made for the swinger you have, too when you put it on.....i would recomend running pro-circuit pipes. not sure on the cost, but there is also different pto gearing options.
