flash75
Hi Guys, I just got myslef a pair of Fox Comp 5 MX boots. As Im pretty new to the Banshee these are my first boots. I wasjust wearing nornal training shoes before and wanted some of these for safety/protection. So I gave them a try today but I could just not wear them. I cant get the boot under the shifter to go up the gears. Even shifting down is not easy as there is hardly and flex at the heel. Would like to know from the guys who have more experience with this type of thing... Have I bought the wrong type of boot, do they just need to be broken in or should i relocate the shifter so that it sits above horizontal? Thanks for any input! BSHEE400
haha don't worry they just need to be broken in, but they will never have a huge amount of flex in them. my shifter sits quite a bit above horizontal but that's just the way i like. much easier for upshifts especially if you have your body positioned to the rear

locogato11283
alpinestars tech 6. once they are broken in they are great boots. youll need to raise your shifter up so that your boot will fit under it.
midlifecrisis
I have a pair of Fox Proformas and they are comfy as hell. They were as stiff as youre talking about when new, but wore in nicely with use. Keep em clean though, and use Dubbin or another type of Leathertreatment on them though and they'll break in faster and with no cracking. My previous boots cracked a lot when I mistreated them, and basically ruined them. My wifes MSR's are the same as yours, and she always complains about the toes being too thick (too tall), so weve adjusted the shifter, run over the toes afew times with the RAM, now were ready for this season! GNR101
alpinestars tech 10 are pretty good out of the box
Banshee Chad
I rock the Alpine star tech 6 as well. Great boot, you will learn to shift with your leg and not just your ankle. but they will break in. you can adjust your shift lever up, I did. Makes it not so easy to wear just shoes anymore, but once you start riding with boots, you wont go back. You will be glad you have the protection when you need it. I ride sitting on the 1/3 of my seat closest to my tank, get a lot of great control. I dont see how these guys riding sitting on the back of the seat, except just shooting the hill i guess trying to get weight over your tires. flash75
Thanks for all the great replies. I will try moving the shifter up and see how I get on. Im glad to hear I didnt just waste a bunch of money on the wrong boots.
