XxMeltIcexX
what is need to convert to alcohole from gas. is there kits to buy or just bigger needles and jets If you are not knowledgeable on alcohol it would be a good idea to talk to your builder (if you have one), and find out if you really want to do the switch. Depending on the carbs you have, you have to drill out dump tubes, jets, install powerjets, run fuel pumps or use a high flow pingel (or both), change plugs, and more. Big step, but any of us that you talk to that have converted will tell you that it is a must for drag racing.Oh yeah, and there aren't "kits" to do this, I would have a reputable builder do the conversion or buy converted carbs if your planning on following through with the switch. J-Madd
I bought my first set of alky carbs; then I have converted several sets since then. It's a piece of cake. You must be familiar with the tuning of alky before you run it though.
jbooker82
Is it bad when you turn the key and kill switch off and the engine keeps running?
J-Madd
Is it bad when you turn the key and kill switch off and the engine keeps running? Yeah that's not good. That happened to a buddy's 18 mil DM at the track last year. It revved to the moon for a good minute before he got it shut down. If that ever happens, PIN THE THROTTLE WIDE OPEN. It will kill the motor instantly. You could also cover the exhaust, but you might burn your hands if not wearing gloves.
jbooker82
Put it in gear and dump the clutch with the brakes on.
J-Madd
That probably would have shattered the override tranny on that DM.
