SandRageShee Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 just because the ford has 91k on the clock doesnt make it any worse than anything,it really all boils down to how hard those 91k were put on it. Another thing is look at it in the long run, remember when diesel got up to $4.58 a gallon out here and gas was around $2.97? and it cost around $100+ to fill up that gnarly 35 gallon tank on that duramax. i suggest get the f150 because diesels need to be drove hard from time to time to keep em "clean" and city driving is hard to do that in, just my .02 i mean hell i drive a 1994 trans am with the 5.7 and it takes $35 to fill up with a 15 gallon tank.. so to each is own but id get the ford Quote

bbcmudtruck Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 I would drive the ford and use the duramax when needed. Quote
crustydemon Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 If they are giving you one to own I would take the Silverado no question about it but diesel is probably alot cheaper here than it is there so as mentioned you'll have to take that into consideration. In my opinion the Chevy is a better built truck but not as fancy as the Fords. It's up to you but your getting a free truck either way so you wont lose. Quote
midlifecrisis Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Tough choice! I drive both dodges, one diesel and 1 hemi Ram, but it all boils down to what youre doing with it. Here in Ontario, diesel is way cheaper too so Im not sure what goes on with fuel costs there in Vegas. Diesels burn the same amount of fuel if you are driving to school or pulling a 15000 lb trailer full of your buddys's quads to the track, whereas gas will go thru 2 tanks pulling that same amount of weight to the grocery store, so as I said, it all depends what youre doing with it! vegas banshee Posted January 29, 2010 Author Report Posted January 29, 2010 yea either way im siked im gettin my own truck! haha but i think im goin with the chevy.. i might be goin to school out of town after high school so i gotta go with less miles.. 91k on the ford is creepin up there.. and the chevy has only 60k or around there. thanks for the replies guys. Dinner Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 As you get older are you planning on doing anything with the truck, or just using it as a daily driver? If you are looking for something just to drive around in from school, work, etc I would choose the Ford. Nicer ride than the 3/4 tonne and is good for regular stop and go traffic. If you enjoy Diesels and want to hot rod a diesel, then I would look into the Duramax. It's up to you mostly, just depends on what you like, your driving style, etc. JMO Quote
rubberneck Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 diesel hands down. sooner or later you are going to want to tow something. Plus its just a whole lot cooler, sounds better, and smells better and best of all its not a ford . Those chevys ride damn nice som my guess is the ride isnt all that much better in the ford. Quote
RagunCajun Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 (edited) the 150. Besides the things mentioned, it's easier to park i bet since it's smaller. As for hotrods, id would say neither. Save that for when you got A LOT of money to burn. Took many many thousands to get my (SVT)f150 into the 11's. You do not want to put a programmer etc on a diesel unless you understand things WILL break once you start modding. hell i blew my old engine last year. New one was over $7k. Gotta pay to play. Dinner Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 In my opinion if he likes the D-Max and wants to get into hot rodding, then I say go for it! Sure you will have to pay some money to get things built properly, but heck you can make the D-Max's pretty dang quick without too much money and work. There's a fella over on a forum that the last time I watched him, he was down into the 11's with not much work done to it Quote
amstall Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 get the duramax for sure. if you're worried about gas mileage that ford with 20's isn't going to get sh*t. get a programmer for that duramax and you'll be getting 16-18 in town...easy. Quote
