KickStartMyHeart
Ok, yesterday I went to the sand dunes in Waynoka. Started the banshee up to let it warm up a lil before I go rippin on it. Fuel is running out of the overflow tubes! I think the float stuck in the carb. It was a lil chilly (45 degrees) in the morning when I started it. I get the float unstuck and runs fine. Lots of power. Get back to the camp after riding for about 45 mins and I got fuel in my airbox. I think that was from the float sticking and fuel was coming back through the airfilter. So we go ride several more times throughout the day and on the last trip, my shifter sticks and I only have 3rd and 4th gear. Its happened before and it just jumped off the shiftstar. My dilemna is whether to keep the banshee or trade for a yfz450 or ltr450. I get so damn tired of just tinkering on this thing. All the guys I was with yesterday ran all day with no problems. They all had raptor 700's or yfz450's. Me on the otherhand, breaking out the toolbox every time I get back to camp. I love the banshee, but just want to ride and not have to tinker on it all the time. What should I do everyone? Keep it or trade for a 450??? bada450r
i think that you will be fine with the banshee IF you replace worn out beat up parts with new parts....than again it might be a never ending project......the new four strokes are fun NOT VERY FAST, but very reliable machines..its a hard call but if all i wanted to do is ride and never or hardly ever wrench than i would get a four stroke. Fullthrottle02
The banshee is a awesome machine, but its not a hop on hop off forget about atv. You have to take the time to keep it in tip top shape or you will have more down time than ride time. You have to make the decision on what you want and works best, personally I would have 1 of each. -Herbie-
personally I would have 1 of each. x2 banshee for the dunes and yfz for the woods & track.
ban99
The worst case if you don't like the four stroke is you go back to the Banshee. I personally rarely have issues with mine while I'm riding, just comes down to good pre-trip prep. Sounds like the bike you have now just has issues, some bikes are just like that, no matter how much you work on them they just keep breaking. I thought I had fixed all the issues. I just got done rebuilding it from ground up actually a couple weeks ago. Its just little things now it seems. It needs the floats fixed and the shift shaft replaced. Just seems like if its not one thing, its another. Yeah I like working on stuff, but I don't like working on it everytime i get back to camp. I just kept seeing all these ppl on 4 strokes yesterday riding, while I was sitting there at camp wit a toolbox lol!! I only saw 3 other banshee's besides mine yesterday. The rest 4 strokes. I found a guy with an 06 yfz 450 he wants to trade for a banshee so I said I would trade mine and some cash for his. I'm just trying to see what mines worth. If anyone has any input, please chime in. tedd1
How old is your 'Shee? How old are these bikes your buddies ride? I would guess that is the difference. Parts get worn and have to be replaced. I wonder, how many of these new four strokes will be around in 2025? Rick
Snopczynski
I have "0" problems with my bike. The only time I work on it, is if I want to try something new. If you know what your doing, and you maintain it, it will never give you any problems.
AKheathen
sounds like you just need to buy a new star with longer pegs. the thing is, that anything you buy is going to wear out, and alot of things close together. so, the 4stroke will last a bit longer before it happens, but cost alot more, too. and, since you are already most of the way replacing the worn stuff on your bike, that day is likely soon to come for the 4stroke, so the other guy will escape the cost on both. now, just for the topend, you would be looking at things like valve job, chain/sliders setup, piston and mabey bearings. that already pushed the cost more than the topend you just did. just my $.

I never looked at it like that. Thats why I posted this thread so I can get some different thoughts and opinions on my pain/dilemna. It just sucked yesterday sitting back at camp working on my quad and not being able to ride due to a $30 part.
jbooker82
Makes for a good argument to replace a worn out 30 dollar part before it fails.

RagunCajun
All quads break. If you dont want to learn to fix them or if you dont want to pay someone to fix them, you should not own one. Take up stamp collecting.

Rajun Cajun, you're just as stupid as my simple minded roommate who is from Chalmette. Southern people make southern people look bad and you are a prime example of one. Nice work on being the posterchild of how ignorant ppl are from louisiana. I'm constantly working on that thing. If its not one thing, its another. I'm just tired of working on it. I think a 4stroke may be more dependable from what I've seen and all my friends have them and zero problems.
