phil0839
im in the process of rebuilding my motor on my 97 banshee, my crank was bad so before i buy a new one i wanted some input if it is worth it to go with a 4mill setup or just stay with a stock stroke. it is used on the street and some trail riding. i currently have a fmf fatty exhaust system, trinity 2to1 setup and carbon fiber reeds. 278
In my opinion you should go with the 4mil. if you have the money or want a project for a little while. Eventually your going to want more power, and take it from me personally going 4 mil. will save you money in the long run because in a year or 2 youll want to go 4mil. rascal
if your goin with the 4mill, think you should go with a clean bore too. thinkin that why mine went boom in one cylinder. the engine had 3years on it and then i installed the 4mill crank and it ran only a season before dropping the right cylinder. just a thot friend !! Burt Reynolds
It is pointless to go with a 4mil unless you do it right. Your trinity carb if its a 33 is a little on the small side. To be properly setup for a 4mil you need to have the port timing changed, then you need wiseco 795's and either run a spacer plate,or have your head cut. Theres a whole lot with a 4mil,if it runs right it will kill a stock clutch basket in one summer of riding, ect ect ect.

Building my First
I don't see a reason to put a 4mil if you don't plan on getting some kind of port work done. If you have to buy a new crank than you might as well get a 4 mill but then you'll need porting, the 795 wisecos, a billet basket, a lock-up or slingshot, better carbs, and on and on. alf44
Personally I would get a port job done for your type of riding. Do a small bore and advance you timing too +4, pipes reeds, and ride that for a wile. It will be a night and day difference. after you get used too all the new power then go for the 4 mill build. Thats the route I went and im now in the process of building a 4 mill.
jbooker82
It would be retarded not to do it now. Port job isn't required but your banshee wont run near as had as it would if you had a stock stroke that was ported.

Im pretty sure if you go with a stock stroke port now and wanna go 4mil later down the road, you'll either have to get them re-ported for a 4mill or buy another set. my .
jbooker82
Yea and since this guy needs a new crank. You would have to throw the extra cost for repurchasing another crank shaft if he buys a stock stroke one first.
alf44
I'm in the process off adding a 4mill to my already dune ported motor. There is no need to buy new cylinders. The port timing adjustments are minor and the cost is not bad at all. Less than half of the original port job. The reason I went this route and said mabey he may want to is to really really get to no your bike, the power, and how to ride with this kind of powerer. He could just jump right in and do it all at once and have a 4mill bike that has to much power and not what he may be ready for and then in turn not like it. I mean some people do like too build up to that type of power and skill level. To me its part of the fun of building and experimenting with new things. Again I would build up to that level and learn the ins and outs of your bike and what building a banshee too your likeing is all about. Its an addiction and it never ever ends.
