yooperbanshee
I just bought my first Banshee. I always wanted one and finally picked one up. I bought it for 1200.00. The bike I bought was rough, but I bought it with the intentions of going through the whole thing. I mostly do trail riding with an occasional drag race down the road against buddies. My banshee has stock carbs and PC pipes if that helps. I got a buddy who really knows his way around these things and also has a banshee. He's running a stock (motor) banshee right now also. I feel very confident in having him do the work. He is also a trained (certified) motorcycle mechanic. 2 things I know I would really like to get are is porting/bored (trail port) and a 4mm crank (long rod). I'd really want the porting done by someone who is a reputable shop. After that I'm kinda lost. Right now the cylinders are bored .20 over. I want to go as little as possible on reboring. I would like to get as much life out of these cylinders. Not sure if I should go with the spacer plate or a cool head. Not really sure what pistons would work best for this setup either. I guess what would be really helpful if someone could suggest a reputable shop or dealer that could put a package together for me of exactly what I need. I thought of trying to piece it together through ebay, but really would like someone with customer service and who is more reputable. Any suggestions? I've heard of trinity, herrs, etc... Just wondering what others opinions are?
bbcmudtruck
Don't use a spacer plate, spend the money and buy a cool head. You need to have domes cut to allow the extra stroke. As far as picking a builder goes, you will just have to call a few and talk to them about what you want to end up with. FAST racing ported my 4mil and it flat out rips, couldn't be happier. Herr Juggs racing built me a dune motor and it ran with the best of them. Just call them and talk it out with them. They are both site sponsors and are great guys to deal with. Wildcardracing
Whoever you decide to do the porting for you should be able to recommend a setup. I personally never use the spacer plates on the strokers. I prefer to port them for the stroke and use a billet head with stroker domes or rechambered stock head for the stroke. The base spacer plate will raise your ports more than a standard trail type port. Those PC pipes are a great trail pipe and would work ok with the 4mil. With the 4mil longrod you are going to want to run Wiseco 795 series pistons for anything between 64 and 66mm bore. Best advice is to make some calls and go with who you feel the best with. -Brandon
