banshee noise problem

hello everyone, i have a problem and i hope you guys can give me ideas how to solve it.

i bought a banshee about 3 months ago and it ran fine.

i went riding about a week ago, and a buddy of mine was using it,( i dk why i let him borrow it)

and it was running fine until we heard a noise on the engine. it sounds like something scratching

so we turned it off, and i fired it up again and it fires up although when i put it in gear and let go of the clutch

it starts making a loud scratching noise. so we left it alone, i thought maybe it was the clutch,

so today i started taking it apart, alothough when i have it on neutral and i push it, it makes that scratching noise at times

it will go away then come back. so i took a look in the clutch and it seems to be okay.

im killing myself here, maybe i am wrong it is the clutch or a bearing inside the engine

any help would be great thankyou very much

their are a number of different things that could be wrong, when you drained this oil did you notice any metal shavings in it (the will be gray in color that is normal) does it make the noise with engine at idle and not in gear? check end play of the clutch try to move it up,down side to side, check chain rollers & slide, is chain to tight,is chain oiled,if it does it at idle it could be your impeller, worse case it could be bad bearings or broken gear teeth.low gear oil could have been causing the noise.

I just got my bike running the other day. i have an overide in mine and it kept popping in and out 2nd gear. it didn't have a perfect rhythm so that was really throwing me off. After cracking the case I learned that it was a cracked shift fork. I did experience a noise that got louder as the motor revved. 1 of the screws holding the shift shaft backed out and went between my main gear on the clutch basket and crankshaft. Needed a new clutch basket.

i checked the oil and it doesnt have any shaving, the oil level was good in it, at idle it turns on great, when i shift to first and release the clutch,( as the bikes rolls) it makes a screaching noise, it sounds like if metal and metal are touching or so, even when it off and in neutral when i roll it, it does that noise.

yea chain is oiled, chain has free play its ok, to me it sounds like the clutch bearings are gone bad but not quite sure,

but this symptons go on , whether its on or off.

ohh i see, well i rode the bike around gently, and the gears dont pop or anything, and i rev up the engine and it doesnt sound, it basically sounds as i start to drive it, like when its rolling it does the noise, whether if its on or off it does this noise.

well thats great that you resolved your issue, although my clutch seems to be okay there is no wear to it

thankxs

is your output seal leaking at all? sounds like it may be a bad bearing on the output shaft

yea, thanxs everyone for the help, but i finally go it,

its the output shaft bearing, when i move it with my hand, it makes the noise and it gets stuck at times

thanks everyone
