banshee-mike Posted January 10, 2010 Report Share Posted January 10, 2010 i started my banshee after a week of sitting and it is making a ratting noise.sounds like its comming from the crank.i cant recall it making this kind of noise before.would appreciate any opinions. I would start by ruling out the obvious by just holding your hand over just about everything on the quad especially the kickstarter those always wear and start to rattle, does it sound like a knock or rattle? Drewski Posted January 11, 2010 Report Share Posted January 11, 2010 well it could be a number of things But I had the same thing last summer and it turned out to be that the kick start idler gear had lost a tooth. WINDYCITYJOHN400 Posted January 14, 2010 Report Share Posted January 14, 2010 Your going to hope for an answer that doesn't require you to split the cases.....But if the noise is "IN" the motor...That's where you need to look. You can only see so much thru the intake and exhaust openings.....Or you could try sawdust in the oil, run a nice rearend fluid in the trans and ride with an Ipod turned up. I'm sure the sound will go away if you rev it up and beat on it for a while. Start with draining the oil and checking for metal shavings.....
