What would you pay

Recommended Posts

Sorry I wasn't sure where to put this topic so I figured this would work here. I am anxious to get back into riding. I am interested in getting a banshee. I found a 97 banshee pretty close to me. The add reads... Brand new vitos top end. New chain, Maijer plastics, renthal bars,Nerf bars, and new chrome toomey t-6 pipes. It looks to be in good condition from the pictures but will inspect when I ride it. Now he said he wants around 1800$ what would you pay??

Thanks for the help in advance

depends on your area too bud it sounds like its a good price if it all checks out. i paid 1500 for mine bone stock 2000

Im in Illinois. After he said he wanted 1800 I told him I have seen a few on craigslist around that year and said if he could get in the 15-1600 range ill buy it.

What all should I check out, compression, what should the psi be if the top end was just rebuilt? Anything else I should keep an eye out for?

average compression should be about 120 125, beware of worn bearing all around, get on the quad and rock it back and forth and see whats loose, check ball joints and all pivot points, wheel bearings axle bearings, check for a worn chain and stripped axle adjusters, check the brakes, worn tires, check to see if the air filter is dirty and make surre there is oil in the tranny, o ya and check to see if the chain ever slapped the case above the front sprocket by inspecting for cracks, all these could be use to get him down on the price

He said he will take 1500 for it. He said it has been bored twice and rebuilt once. No title thats what is straying me from it.

I found a 99 he wants 1600 for it. Has fmf fatty exhaust, nerf bars jet kit and new tires in rear. 120 PSI compression. and this one has a title. Seems like a better deal to me. Just out of curiosity how many times can you safely bore a motor.

Here is a picture tell me what you think.

it is dirty lol, but looks alright.

you can bore a banshee alot!! it jus depends on how much was bored and what the bore is now i would go more then 80 over but you can resleve the cylinders if its bored too much... they even make big bore cylinders.. and big bore domes to get more power ... hope this helps

it looks ok. you got any pics of the first one you were talking about? i wouldnt get too worked up over it having a title or not as a lot of them get lost. just run the vin number before you purchase to make sure not stolen. im sure you could get a title for it later if you ever need one. sounds like the first one has more done to it. hard to tell much by pic but usually someone who takes good care of their stuff would keep it clean, especially for a sale picture.

Here is a picture of the first one. He said he will take 1500 for it. How would I go about checking the vin number on it? I probably wouldn't need a title myself but just for selling it later on.
