Tips on removing the front sprocket

What is the size of the front sprocket nut? and what tips can you give me to make it easier to remove?

The front sprocket size is 32mm, use an impact or put a ratchet on there and smack it with a rubber mallet (poor mans impact).

It also helps to mod your stator cover like this for a quick change:

Is it the standard "righty-tighty, lefty-loosey"? or the opposite?

It's standard type threads. Don't forget to look at the condition of the locking washer. If it's bad, replace it.

Thanks! I just ordered a new washer. It is looking pretty bad. I don't have a 32mm socket, so I'm just waiting to have time to go out and get one.

1 1/4" will fit it also.

you can get the nut off several ways. i like using an impact but there are other ways as well.

before you loosen your chain, you can sit in the bike and step on the rear brake to break the nut loose and tighten it.

a wrench with a long handle helps in this situation.
