+4 timing plate performance?

Recommended Posts

Just buy the flywheel puller and mod the stock one. It was cheap like very one said. There are some people that can get +5deg out of it but I didnt want to chance mine so I just cut to +4 and has been good to me ever sense. If my memory serves me right, there is a how two or a pic on here of a modded stock plate.

I just noticed that I have a billet timing plate on mine. Has the degrees marked in it and all and is at 0 degrees right now. Should I leave it there or advance it to +4. Will this change the reliability? I understand the basics by any info would be great, noob here.

What kind of performance do you pick up w/ +4 on timing plate? Is it worth it?

Definetly worth it , good for about 2-3 hp across the board. Make sure to use a Banshee flywheel puller.

Agreed and its not just a low end gain, too much timing can be but when the right timing for your motor is found you will pick up peak hp as well. Just changing timing curves we have seen 10 hp swings on the dyno in peak power. But always remember timing and compression can cause detonationg if they are too high for your fuel.
