BOSS LX
How much would I gain from switching from FMF gold series fattys to T5"s? I have a welded crank, +4 timing, cool head 18cc domes, and a 2-1 carb. Thanks for any help. I am mostly looking for mid to high power. shanYE west
You will gain maybe 1-2hp.. but both pipes are very similar in power charecteristics.. Both ramp up very quickly around 5500 rpms. But the Toomey's tend to hold peak power longer.. Once FMF's hit peak power they fall off faster then the toomey's. (this is based of a stock 350 with stock carbs) But.. Most of the time the peak HP is only within 2hp of one another.

I thought that it may be a bigger difference.
AKheathen
what he is saying is that it will be worth it if you find yourself coming up a little short on the top of the gear. i was also wondering which 2-1 you have because some of them don't flow verry well at higher rpm's.... Trinity. So you would make the switch?
papa_smurf49319
you will get a much better horsepower gain elsewhere, money saved on pipes could be spent better elsewhere!
RadarRacing
I agree with what they said they would be close to the same. Those r decent pipes you have no reason to ditch those.
firebanshee
If you want more power why not run dual carbs ?
bbcmudtruck
I switched from FMFs to T5s and noticed very little, if any power gains. One thing I did notice though is that the T5s gave up a little bottom end. Honestly, I wouldn't switch FMF Fattys to T5s.
GNR101
so many ppl bash FMFs .. but there a damn good pipe

FASTOYS
Yep Boss, Porting would be a better choice than pipe change from the sounds of it. Maybe some Dual carbs after that for more mid/top pull then a set of CPIs or Shearer pipes for even more top end depending on what your looking for. We have built some awesome bikes that were VERY fun to ride and they had stock carbs, FMFs, our porting and pump gas.
