Ieat4strokes
On a 4 mill drag ported FAST motor where should I start with gearing on 300 ft dirt drags? I'm gonna be running a 8 inch arm with pro wedges in soft dirt clay like in sig pic. I'm around 190 lbs.

AWR
On a 4 mill drag ported FAST motor where should I start with gearing on 300 ft dirt drags? I'm gonna be running a 8 inch arm with pro wedges in soft dirt clay like in sig pic. I'm around 190 lbs. the dirt you are running on in your sig looks identical to what we race on here.i ran between 14-40 and 14-42 with pro wedges but never had any luck with an 8 inch swinger.ended up with a 4 inch swing arm and 65inch wheelie bar.my tranny was uncut also but i cut 3 dogs off 3 thru 5.left in 2nd finish in 5th.was unbeaten in my class for 2 yrs with that combo(350 mod-any chassis, any fuel,no cut trannies,no aftermarket cylinders).at that time i weighed around 230....good luck
BigRed350x
No one can give you a good suggestion without knowing what ratio your primary's are. Do you have straight-cuts? If you do, then what ratio are your primary gears? It changes quite a bit when your primary gears change. Firehead custom made my straight-cuts and they sit at a 3.28 ratio which is stupid tall. I run 14x45 on my 10mil for 300ft with a 22" 14 paddle extreme.
J-Madd
Safe to say he's running stock primary gears. I doubt he would spend $350 (or whatever straight cut high ratio gears cost) before he bought an override, but I could be wrong

Man my Cub blows 72 r/o 14 pdl extremes off all the way down the track with me on it (185 lbs). I don't see how you can get that thing down the track with those tires unless they are 80+ r/o!! Ieat4strokes
Yea I hop i didnt go too long on the arm, i know in the yard she blows the tires all the way across my backyard, prolly a good 300ft. Have to wait and see how she does at the track, i have wedges and paddles to try. No one can give you a good suggestion without knowing what ratio your primary's are. Do you have straight-cuts? Primarys are stock, havent gone full all out drag as of yet, i still ride it "recreationally" as well, comp here isnt that stiff to ONLY drag it...lol Safe to say he's running stock primary gears.
