wannashee20
Ok so I got my banshee last summer and it has never run quite right and we have been tinkering around with it the whole time. I dont know what the jetting on my carbs is, but i have PWK 28's. We noticed the reed spacers were turned around so we put them back the way they are supposed to be, plugged the carbs because they were just sucking air (and whatever else) through them, put an air box filter set up with out the lid on it, and changed out the gas tank because the other one had a hole in it. It started up just fine and idled for about 2 or 3 minutes no problem then all of a sudden it quit! We flipped the reed spacers back to the way they were and that wasnt the touchy issue, the plugs were getting spark but it was weak so we changed those, compression is at 120 each side. Anyone got any suggestions I would love some help! Its about to get snowy here and i want it running before i put it away. Thanks everyone! Ruko
The 3 main things needed for a 2 stroke to run are compression, spark and fuel. If you have compression and you have spark then make sure you are getting fuel. If you just put a new fuel tank on maybe it had some crap in it. I don't know what you mean by "plugged the carbs" but I would pull them apart and make sure they are clean, and check the screen in the petcock. Also if you were switching the reed spacers from one side of the reeds to the other that shouldn't make any difference. I have seen them on either side. wannashee20
I am sure that I am getting fuel, and i mean that the nipple(dont know what its called) on the back top of the carbs was just open and sucking in air and all the dust into the carb so I plugged it on both. I dont know if that is throwing it off or not. I will have to go back over the carbs and re clean them, but i did that right before i put the air box on. Thanks for the ideas! Ruko
Hmmm that nipple may have been a vent. They usually have a hose on them that runs down below the carb, but they are left open. If you plugged it off it may be causing a vacuum inside, like trying to pour out of a fuel can without opening the vent. Try unplugging it and see what happens. papa_smurf49319
i think the nipple that she is talking about i drilled right into the carb body, i might be able to find a pic. The one up top next to the choke?
Ruko
So does that vent hose come off it or is it from somewhere else?? It is hard to tell from that pic. I have Mikuni's on mine so I don't know for sure how the Keihin's are set up. I know lots of people use those carbs so maybe someone with them can help out. papa_smurf49319
I wouldnt unplug it you will be sucking dirt and extra air threw that plug
wannashee20
well i am going to try it cody, after we figure out whether or not that is the problem we can go from there on what we need to do in order for it not to suck in all the dirt. papa_smurf49319
Anybody else have these on the 28 pwks? Ive only seen a few sets with them? The nipple is drilled right into the carb body, just seems like if left unplugged it would run super lean and suck dirt!
