lt1bird
Should I fill the engine case water jackets with devcon aluminum, then deck the surfaces? Im building a 485 and figure that would be a good idea? What do other folks do? Thanks for the help...

Only really need epoxy when you get bigger than 10 mil or use a 10 mil with a big pin crank.
lt1bird
Not epoxy becuse of metal break through on the flywheel side, im talking about the small water jacket holes in the top of the cases. I heard its good to do it as it will help the base gasket sealing...maybe your saying the same thing... has anyone with a big bore done this epoxy to the deck? Mine is a 72 bore and there is not much left after you have bored the cases , I do know when they go bigger they fill them in with aluminum welding before they bore and yes I filled mine in with epoxy with no issues !! lt1bird
I agree,I would think with such a small ring or material left that filling them in would make the gaskets seal better for sure...
camatv
are you using a cheeta cylinder? if you are you should also fill in the area on the outside where the cylinder seals with the top case half. the cheeta is wider at the bottom and will definatelly benifit from the added support i always filled my top cases holes also when doing the larger bore.. and the center where the transfers connect. after you do the case matching there is not much for sealing area on the stock cases. but its easy to fix with devcon. lt1bird
Yes, cheetah cyl's.... Not sure where you are talking about in the center? I know there is only a tiny strip of aluminum left in the center between the two cyl's....When I put the base gasket on i use a little formagasket to lock the gasket part in so it does not blow out at that thin part...seems to work fine...... Are you filling in a diffrent location other than the water jackets?
