How to fix dentd pipes

Yeah I've heard that you can plug both ends of the pipe, air up to 20 psi or so and heat the dented area to get out the dent, but what can I use to plug up the ends and what not. Is this stuff I can get at the hardware store?

Thanks in advance

ooh, lemmie go see if i can load the pics real quick.... i baught everything at ace, except the blow nossle. you need the tightest expansion plug you can cram in the stinger end, a big rubber stopper, washers and e-clips or c-clips, and pipe fittings to attatch through the stopper after you drill it. i think it was 2" stopper, and 1" leverstyle expansion plug. you need the ability for pinpoint high intensity heat. ocy/aceteline works best, but you can probably get it glowing with mapp gas with the turbine tip

here ya go......i tied the expansion plug because it poped out a couple times even though i cleaned and roughed up the end. heating the pipe releases the buildup into a hot oil that creaps in there and some dents took more than 100psi. wear hearing protection. heat the creases, not the center of the dent, unless it's a crease, and apply the air once it's glowing. what kind of dent? pic?

The thing with the blue string is a plug like the type you plug the drain hole on the transom of a boat with, I think the E CLIPS go in where your o rings would on the jug side of the pipe to hold the rubber plug in(just jam it in) Just keep your nads away from the buisness end of the pipe.

You may also be able to get the dent out just by heating around the dent with a torch and quickly lay a cool wet washcloth or rag on the area and it may pop it out if its not a huge dent. It could fuck up your chrome of course.

Somebody told me you can plug the ends of the pipe after you fill it with water and put it in the freezer and when it freezes it will pop the dents out of it.I have never tried this to prove that it works and will not split your pipe maybe some one here has a old junk pipe to test this method on and let us know.

I fixed a dent on the pipe on my kx by putting a rubber expansion plug in the jug side that has a bolt in the center to expand it. Then I clamped a short air hose with an air chuck to the small end. I then put around 80 pounds of pressure on it and heated it up with a map gas torch, if you take your time it works pretty good.

I forgot where I read it, I think it was on a dirtbike forum. The guy said that he did it on his bike. He had pictures uploaded, he said he had to do it a couple of times. But the final result you couldn't tell where the initial impact was!
