mexicant
i am new on here, i have a question so i have taken my quad to some of the best shops in vegas, and every time i take it out it doesn't work i am tired of this happening, so it seems like i am going through cdi boxes like crazy i just put a brand new one in and a new stator took it out this weekend to dumont and once again rode it for about 20 min. and after that didn't start, there is no spark, any suggestions on what this could be, i am at the point of redoing the harness with all new wire i dont know what could be causing this!!! fastbanshee8
Is the TORS still hooked up? If it is, unhook it, and throw it in the trash.
meaderaca9
im having this same problem. i put a new ignition coil in it and it ran for a while. then we pulled it back into the garage, checked everything we think its the cdi so we ordered a hot shot. hopefully it will fix the problem. fastbanshee8
Check the gap between the flywheel, and the pick-up coil. A match book works to set it.
meaderaca9
ive checked it multiple times. how bout u mexicant?
blowit
Certainly unhook the TORS system for diagnostics and check all grounds. The engine must ground well to the chassis as well as the ignition coil grounding to the frame up under the fuel tank. If neither of these is causing your problem, it is likely a damaged wire in the harness. It might be easier in this instance to remove the harness from the bike and inspect carefully on the bench. Also closely inspect the termination points. Mull Engineering
mexicant
no i have not checked the gap or the TORS i will remove that and check the gap, also i just got done redoing all the grounds on the bike, i am actually just gonna take out the harness and build my own so that way i know there is nothing wrong with the harness, and i guess go from there if that doesnt work i guess i will go with a better cdi and stator, thinking of going with a rick's stator and cdi box i heard they are really good components anybody on here run those and if so how do u like them? fastbanshee8
Almost everyone on here that's run Ricky Stator stuff, has had many problems with them. Try the search function on Ricky Stator, and you'll find most people say that they are a heaping pile o' shit.

I am having the same issue. Ran perfect all day yesterday, grabbed lunch and hopped back on...... NOTHING, no spark. Swapped coils, still nothing. Check my kill switch and regrounded, nothing. This is my first 2 stroke bike so I am not familiar with the wiring but it looks very simple. I purchased it from a guy you only had it for a month, who he purchased from a member here. Bike ran fine for the last month, no issues. I am thinking CDI, but not for sure. Is there a way to check for this? The CDI reads "Banshee 1556", if this helps. Wiring harness connections are different from my buddies 1998, so I couldn't swap the CDI from his, if this is possible. Mexicant-- Any luck? Well can't say I haven't had problems like this, but never in one day after replacing almost all electrical. First start with the easy stuff, do you have all good connections, grounds, etc. I had gone through three ricky stator's and I finally ask for my money back. The good old fashion stock oem stator is the best I have found so far. I am going to try a company out of Canada and try one of there's. No spark can mean different things bad connection on your coil positive side, TORS (junk)..

AKheathen
the only ways to check the cdi is to smck it and to replace it. make sure you guys check the harness where it's supposed to be attatched to the side of the airbox. that is the most common melting point, and can make itnermittent and partial shorts. if you make a new harness, make sure to use the same colors or at least a cross reference for future troubleshooting.
