i jst got my banshee a couple months ago. i've had a little engine work done and now it's time to start on the suspension. first off, i don't race. i just love riding. i do both woods and motocross. i think i'm just going to get a cheep set of elka shocks fo the front. the problem i'm having is for the rear. i was going o go with elka for rear too, but it's expensive. my buddy told me to just revalve the stock shock. now i weigh 270, would they be able to do that, and where could i send it off too???? any help would be great.. thanks

I had my stock rear shock rebuilt and it was way better. They set it up and valve it for your weight and riding style etc, just like a new shock but it was less than half the price of a new one. I got mine done by Shane/Lobo Performance who used to be on here a lot a few years ago... haven't seen him around for a while though. Other places do it too... Elka, TCS, etc. I ran mine for 3 years with no problems. I switched to an Elka rear last summer and it is definitely better than the stock rebuilt shock but the rebuilt one is still way better than stock to start with. If you don't have the money for a new aftermarket shock rebuilding the stocker is a good option. You could also try to find something used... only thing it might be hard to find something set up for your weight.

I think some Elka fronts with Piggybacks and atleast comp adj woul be the best for you since you race. The standerd Elka e36 no piggyback cost alot less but wear quicker with no oil espically if your racing hard and heating the shocks up.

Ive heard alot of gripes with Fox air shocks wearing very quickly on the XC GNCC Circut. I like Elka or Axis.

I really think GT Thunder does the best work when it comes to revalving a shock. Those guys have been in business for years and everyone runs their stuff and gets them to rebuild their high end Elka Axis Ohlins ect stuff over the companys that sell them.

Again if your going to be racing you should look at a matching rear for your setup. It costs to stay competitive. But if you want to cut costs then get a better rear shock later GT Thunder are the guys to talk to about revalving and respringing your rear shock. TIP, I had my rear shock setup for 290lbs and the spring along with the shaft (Its ELKA) is so wide I had to cut some material out of my swingarm for it to fit. It was a pain in the ass and I dont know how to weld so it ran me an extra 150.00 but it was well worth it. You might want to check that out.
