killed300ex
Wondering if any of you had run an air shifter on your banshee? Thinking about installing one over the winter to go on my 97 drag bike. Run both asphalt 1/8 mi and 300' sand drags. Was thinking about triggering it thru a dyna tek FS ignitions off one of the RPM activated triggers. Thoughts on how this would work or suggestions. If you have done it pictures of how you mounted it would be great. Thinking of using this air shifter kit http://www.cycle-tek.com/html/Other%20Bikes.htm

Thinking of using this air shifter kit http://www.cycle-tek.com/html/Other%20Bikes.htm My 16 mil had a Pingel air shifter on it when I got it. I took it off. I didn't see the need for it; and it added weight. It was air over air; no solenoids or anything that would allow you to have it shift automatically based on engine rpms. Let us know how it works for you if you decide to go that route.

Weights not an issue bikes already carting my 250 pounds down the track
tony cub
dont waste your time..had an air over air on my 10mill and found it easyer to just shift it..you are running an over ride right?
lowriderb
personally i wouldnt run a air shifter since there are mechaical options available. tony with an air shifter you dont have to run an override, air shifters are usually set up to your ignition and it kills the ignition for a split second to take the load off the trans when the air solinoid jams it into the next gear. thats why when you see street bikes and such with them they backfire when they shift down the track. Yeah, but it seems a lot of folks don't run the ignition interrupt and just run them with overrides. I'd think interrupting the ignition, albeit very briefly, would be detrimental to a 300 ft race. Running 8th or quarter mile asphalt......maybe not as big of an issue. jmo.

Yes the ignition inturupt will not be run in the sand (hopin to be able to run a switch on it) It will be run on asphalt so I can get into 5th and 6th. Ill gear 300 feet to be done in the overriden gears (1-4) Also iv been told the ignition interrupt isnt enough in the sand running paddles as it wont kill the engine long enough to unload the paddles but thats only what iv heard no experiance
sleeper06
Dyna ignitions have the shift kill option, you must run a 12v source and a momentary button clutch side to operate it.The buety of the system is use it when you want to

BUT, what your wanting to do seems to be appropriate. In 300 ft I (and some others) have found it difficult to gear 1-4 to lay down optimal times.
