Fullthrottle02
Bought a new set of Mohawks buffed bead to bead 21x7x10 from Cascade. Just got back from the dunes and they didn't turn any better than my dirt tires except at very low speeds. I first had 6psi in them then took it down to 4 which seemed to help a little bit. Has anyone else had issues with these pushing as bad as dirt tires? I tried to set up on the bike more as well to put more weight on the front end, but that only worked when your not ripping the throttle back. I ride at LS in Ok, which has a lot of trails. We fly through there as fast as possible and not being able to turn is a big problem. All other aspects seemed good, when on the big dunes it tracks a lot better, the same with drag racing, the wondering of the front end is a lot better, but the tree shooters and trails where steering is crucial, is what we do the most of and where I'm having the biggest issue. Any advise or suggestion?
bansheeseat$$
It doesn't matter what tire you have on it if there is no weight on the front nothing will turn good.Nature of have a shee.

itsjustagreat1
If you want a set of tires for turning, get you a set of dune runners. Mohawks are not necessarily turning tires, they are better for drag racing, however I switched to them on my bike and have been dragging and trailing them at LS for the last 5 years without a problem. If you are wanting to make sharper turns though, get the runners. I still use the runners on my all around bike.
donkeypuncher
i used to run mohawks and i wasnt impressed with them either. a couple years back i switched dune runners and they worked pretty well, a lot better then the mohawks anyways. then i found the itp sandstar front tires, damn do they turn well. they wont work as well when drag racing, but when hittin some fast trails their second to none! my .02. A buddy of mine had those ITP's on the front of his, and I have to agree they turned awesome, I couldn't keep up and vise versa when we switched bikes. that might be the direction I end up going. We'll see here in a couple more weeks. Thanks for the info.
bansheesandrider
I used to run Dune Runners on my Banshee, but two years ago I switched to the ITP Sand Stars with the twin ribs and it was a night and day difference. We ride alot of trails along the edge of the trees and I was getting tired of missing corners and sliding down the hill. I put the Dune Stars on and haven't missed a corner yet. XxMeltIcexX
I have both Mohawks and sand stars dual ribs. Anything like dune runners or sand stars are gonna weigh a ton, Mohawks are an awesome LIGHT tire but if you want rail type cornering then get yourself some dune runners or sand stars. jayzx10r
My limited experience has my favorite sand tire as a Sand Tires Unlimited Razorback. REAL LIGHT and I can't imagine there's a tire that can out steer it. The tire only weighs 6 lbs!! Air 'em down to 2 1/2 psi and have a great time!! http://www.sandtiresunlimited.com/rb.html
jlevasseur
If you want the ultimate trail tire for turning I would recommend the sand star double rib. However, I don't really care for the look, I like the full buff look myself, that is why I went with the Cascade Cutters which is on Cascade Innovations website. There the next best thing and still have the full bead buff.
RadarRacing
I have a set of 19" sandstars and they turn well. The 21" dune runners I had were real heavy.
bansheesandrider
lol, you put dune runners and sand stars together. I have the SandStars on my bike, before that I had the GBC imitation Razorbacks. I did not notice any difference between the Sand Tires Unlimited tires and the GBC tires, but the ITP SandStars were a huge difference compared to those two. i am running 8 paddle haulers on the rear.
