SUPERJETRUSS
What carbs do you guys recommend using with a 4mill setup, I sent out my cylinders to HJR to get there 4mill setup Im going to be running a cool head with 4mill cut domes for 93 pump gas, and Im think he going to do the mx porting on it not sure cause he hasnt recived them yet. I want to run Toomeys T5, unless he suggest something different. Is there anything else I should change while having the lower end apart I already ordered the pro design aluminum impeller. What about an adjustable stator plate would that work with the 4mill. Thanks for all the help
papa_smurf49319
An adjustable timing plate set at 4 degrees advanced would really complament that setup. As far as pipes go it depends on what type of riding you do. Kevin really likes the shearers as do a few builders on here. For carbs that also depends on what kind of riding you do, 35mm keihins are a good all around carb and would work well with a four mill, do you know what your displacement is and what kind of riding you do. That way a few other guys on here can tailor fit your setup for you, also kevin would be a good guy to talk to since he did your porting! SUPERJETRUSS
I dont know what the dissplacement going to be when I tore apart the motor it had WSM pistons in it and I couldnt read the number on the piston, and for riding I live about to 2 hours from the badlands so Ill visit there a couple times but mostly I live on a lake so Ill be ripping up the ice for sure, and take it to the mx track, so pretty much all aorund riding I guess. It actually melted a lower rod bearing thats why I took it apart what could of done this so it wont happen with my new setup.
papa_smurf49319
kevin will let ya know what ya need and what caused it, im pretty sure hes going to tell you shearers and 35 keihins but i could be wrong!
toaster024
I also am building a 4 mil and had cylinders ported by Kevin but I got a drag port. Just talk to Kevin he will get you right where you need and want to be. I've called him countless times he will spend the time to listen to you and recomend the right set up for your riding style. As for your carbs just ask him what does he think would be best. You might be in the 34 35 range
TeamRealtreeHD
33mm for a stock jug 4 mil from Kevin would rip. A cub 4 mil or equivalent I think 35mm at the least so it's not choked up.
SonOfSand
I just went down the road you are starting on. I had Kevin do a 4mil crank and the dune/hill-shoot port, on stock carbs. The engine ran great, except for in one area. While climbing steep dunes (choke cherry), the bowls would start to run out of gas, and the engine would pop and crackle. I went to 35mm pwk's, and that eliminated the problem. I do have to say this, I was expecting another noticeable increase in power with the new carbs, and so far cant really say I have felt it.
