LIM_Whiteboy4life
First off i dont like having my bike down for any amount of time... But since money is tight i wanting to ask for some input. 1st option : to send my stock crank out to get trued/welded and rebuilt 2nd option: to get a used trued/welded crank (hotrods, wiseco, oem) so minimize the down time 3rd option: to buy a new crank that i know thats been trued/welded and have no worries. I know the 1st option would be the most cost effective way but i will have downtime for 2-3 weeks and i ride just about every two weeks but since winter is around the courner i don't think it would matter much. Just need some convincing... before my motor pops lol
rubberneck
i was originally going to go for option 1 on my 350, but when i got the topend torn down, the left rod had too much side clearance. The crank had started to separate already. So that forced me to option 3. Option 2 was out. I dont buy used internals dont trust em. But to each their own. You could always do option 3 to minimize down time then sell your crank if its good, if its not, you just saved yourself some time
spurdy
Option one if the crank is still serviceable at a reasonable cost. If not, Option 3 without a doubt. A good crank is the heartbeat of your motor and a heart attack can cause lots of other damage along the way. SP

I wonder if any of the builders have a stock rebuilt unit i can buy whole and give them the "core" to minimize my down time.

AKheathen
well, with option 1, you can probably build a better crank than buying new, even have it cryoed..... i'm goin with option 2, then 1, since it's gonna be a 4 mill....so, it's not coming apart untill i have the new setup ready. not terribly impressed with hotrods bearings. XxMeltIcexX
Why are you running race gas? If I was getting a new crank I'd upgrade to a larger stroke, your gonna do it sooner or later. If it were me I'd have it rebuilt if I was staying stock stroke. XxMeltIcexX
What I meant to say is why are you running that much compression?
