jack350
hey guys ok .... so im re-building my mates shee and when i was taking out his clutch i noticed he had no cushion rings in between the friction plates and steel plates.. my 1ST QUESTION: can i re-install his clutch without the cushion o-rings???? why??? i also came across the adjuster bolt had the ball bearing welded on it... I HATE ABSOLUTLY HATE quick fixes and not all replacing parts that need to be.. BUT my mate cant afford it right yet but wants his bike to run... i have replaced his crankshaft, pistons machined cylinders + head.. he has spent $1000 already (AUS). . . i bought a new pushrod and ball bearing but didnt buy the adjuster bolt because the stealership wanted $45 dollars for it and was goona take 2 weeks to come in.. MY 2ND QUESTION: can i heat up or hack saw the ball bearing off the end of the adjuster bolt??? remember just a quick fix just to get it runnin ... thanks guys jack
Drewski
i have heard of some leaving the rubber cushions out but am not sure if you just want to cut the ball off

rubeat
You can just break the ball bearing off with pliers and emery cloth it up and reuse in a pinch I've done it .

AKheathen
i always hear everyone say to just leave the coushins out. if you have an anvil/vise, or something real solid to beat against, (mabey concrete) beat just the ball with a 3-4# hammer against it. the shock/flexing should make the ball separate from the rod without bending it. neat trick i came up with to knock nuts out of impact and regular sockets. they pop or fall right out. i definately wouldn't make the adjuster any shorter. and, there is a hell of a steal in the f/s section here on a pancake bearing. $25 and it'll never weld again. or you can have a almost brand new one for 35 shipped if someone already baught that one. i don't need it anymore.
