gemini
I bought a banshee and it has dual rate works shocks up front w/ the stock shock in the rear. To make a long story short they ride way too rough and beat you to death and I don't like it. Do I just need to send them off to the manufacturer and get them resprung? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.
bbcmudtruck
Are you saying that they are way to stiff? Or are you saying they bottom out on everything therefore making the ride very rough?
gemini
They're too stiff.
bbcmudtruck
Did you buy your bike from a heavy guy? He may have had them set the shocks up for a heavy rider. You can send them to works to have them revalved and resprung, but it might cost you more than you want to spend. If they are in good shape, you could sell them and buy new ones set up for your weight and riding style.
gemini
No not really. Kid I got it from was pretty small. He was smaller than me which makes me think he bought it from someone else who already had them on there. I'm at 225 so I'm definately not a "small" guy lol. Any idea, ballpark, what it'd cost to get them resprung/revalved? Thanks for the info.
bbcmudtruck
I had my rear shock revalved with racetech gold series valving and race tech spring. All together with labor and parts it was over $400. That was with a rear shock though. You would just have to contact works and find out. This is off of their website http://www.worksperformance.com/pdf/app_guide/service.pdf I would still call them and find out for sure what you need. bbcmudtruck
Unless you know what your doing, I wouldn't let the air out. Those bad boys are under a pretty good amount of pressure. I don't think thats the right way to adjust them either.
gemini
Awesome. I'll contact Works and hopefully get to the bottom of this. Thanks for all the info.
Whitbread
Stiff for a 225lb guy?! Damn . I have works dual rates on my front sprung and valved for my skinny 160lbs and it rides like a cadillac. Definitely send them off to get revalved/resprung. T_Shee
you can adjust the stiffness of the spring by moving the top clip up some. at least thats what i did to mine to stiffen them up (i moved the clip down) cuz i was bottoming out and it worked well. there is like 7 notches at the top for adjustment Edited September 24, 2009 by T_Shee
