doorslammer
hey guys i've been running the YFZ front end for a while now but was curious to know if anyone had gone over the geometry of the set-up. the reason im asking is because im ready to drop some coin on a set of shock but if a set of +2+1 or +3+1 standard travel banshee arms will give me a better smoother more consitant ride i would get a set of banshee arms and shocks rather then keep the 450 arms. so like i said, has anyone checked out the geometry and compaired it to a standard or long travel set of banshee arms? or has anyone switched from 450 arms back to + banshee arms and what do you think about them. cheers
bbcmudtruck
I switched from +2+1 banshee arms to the yfz450 arms and wish I would have never done it. I'm switching back to banshee arms as soon as I can.

bbcmudtruck
I was originally running Full Flight +2+1 with works dual rates. I came across a really good deal on Elkas that were advertised for a banshee so I bought them. When they showed up, I realized they were for a longer travel banshee. They are 16.5" long so I bought the 450 setup, and they fit perfect. In the trails and track its not real terrible, but I have my bike lowered for Horseshoe and TT raceing. When its lowered it feels like I'm steering a tank. It pushes in the corners and it just hard to turn. At regular ride hieght its the same, just not as bad. Either way you put it, my old setup was alot better. I got ahold of Tim at Steller performance and he can custom build me some arms to fit the longer Elkas, for the same price as off the shelf arms. So thats the direction I'm headed. 450 arms belong on 450s!
coronakidd
was he building +2 arms for those shocks or is he building longtravel aarms
yfz350rider
i noticed with the 450 setup when im going slow on the road it feels like the steering is stiff, but when I get moving i hardly seem to notice it.

AKheathen
where your problem lies is the foreward camber angle. the further the lower ball joint is in front of the upper, the harder it will be to steer. this is because the weight is placed behind the pivot axis of the ball joints. the greater angle improves cornering, while making it harder to turn. inward casterwill also have an effect on turning
