turbo banshee

wouldn't that suck some of the exhaust back into the intake, becasue its causing the roatation.

this turbo thing seems retarded. people have it just to say they have it.

look closely at that bike my man. it`s a big cheetah. the cylinders and crank cost more than your bike. a&s are one of the few people that get turbos to run. dan hull has forgotten more about banshees than you will ever know.

Maybe try Dan Hull @ A&S

I know who has that now. It's a 10 mil Cub.Supposed to make a ridiculous amount of HP. Never saw it make a decent pass down the track, though.

Yeah, turbos are retarded and don't work at all :yank: .

Of course they work, but good running turbo 2 strokes are far and few between. I've seen more that run like crap than don't; but the ones that do run are the fastest around.

i know what a turbo does im not stupid. do some reasearch on the "no fear deere" pulling tractor. yeah. i help work on that. and alot of my buddies are big into this lil four banger cars wit turbos.

the faster the engine goes, the faster it pushes the turbo making the air have more boost. giving it more power.

I am just wondering how the exhaust doesn't get pulled back into the intake. becasue in the picture...the exhuast is bolted right up going into the turbo. what im gathering is that the exhaust is whats making this go. thats what im trying to understand, how it doesnt suck exhasut back in.

intsead of being dicks about everything how about you just explain it. instead of making yourself seem like an ass.

and say shit about me i dont care. yeah i'm a dick alot. but really i dont care...no one gives me a serious answer or response so i dont have to either.

I wanted to understand how this turbo works on a banshee.

and i said people have them just to say they have them. that wasn't for everything, i was saying that for this... becasue i think the exhaust would be sucked back in.

then again i have expericne riding a turboed 10mil. much less any 10mill. so i couldnt say if they do much of anything.

The intake is actually on the other side of the turbo in the pic; and the exhaust is far enough away that it can't get pulled back in. I see what your talking about now.

K so I just happen to have a turbo sitting around.... i took some pics to show what it looks like and what it does... I wont pull it apart at this time though, if I ever do ill take pix of the internals.... I'll do my best to show you how a Turbo system works I also have external waste gate and BOV (blow off valve)

Ok so here is where i will begin.

The engine created exhaust and as you climb the tacometer the exhaust will create pressure going into the turbo (pic 1), at the fin of the exhaust turbine on the turbo This fin (picture 2),will start to spin as the gasses go through it , the turbine is attached to the intake fin (compressor){picture3} by a shaft so if one spins the other has to spin at the same rate. As they spin the compressor (intake fin) will draw air through the air filter which will connect directly to the turbo in picture 3...as the turbo spins the Compressor will pressurized the air creating boost. the boost exits the turbo in picture 4 comes out of the turbo and into the intake or on a SHEE into the carbs and into the engine... the exhaust goes into the turbo and exits in picture 2

where you see the short exhaust pipe in the pictures above...

now to take it up a step... On a car or something with throttle bodies (butterfly valve) when you let off the throttle it closes correct... You have this turbo spinning 150,000 rpm's + and intake flow comes to a stop so the intake pressure will continue to climb at a extreme rate this pressure would over come the exhaust pressure and make the turbo spin backwards creating a shock the the shaft damaging the turbo by warping or braking the shaft connecting the turbine and compressor wheels. So to prevent this you install bov BLOW OFF VALVE that is the chirp or pst of air you hear when a turbo car revs then lest off the throttle either shifting or just after a strong pull... but if the bov lets the air out the turbo will continue to boost for a little while until the exhaust empties its pressure.... No remember there is as much pressure in the exhaust as there is boost so if your boosting 18 psi there is atleast 18 psi in the exhaust pre turbo.after the turbo that depends on how big your exhaust is the bigger the better on a turbo car. So to release this exhaust pressure they have another valve Waste Gate this waste gate just least the pressure dump either into the exhaust after the turbo or just dump out into the atmosphere. pictures of the bov and a EXTERNAL waste gate are below

Now an INTERNAL waste gate is inside the exhaust side of the turbo... mine was removed because im converting to a external wastegate when i was planning my build.. i have now decided to not use this turbo period lol....

Anyways The hole im pointing at in the picture is where the internal wast gate sits. there is a flapper door that open when the exhaust pressure gets too high. this gate will be what regulates your boost you set your boost at 9 psi the gate open when the exhaust pres hits 9 psi turn the boost up it will open when you hit that pressure and this concept works for both internal and external waste gates... so now ill explain whats in the picture that hole bypasses the turbine thus releasing the pressure that is waiting to go through the turbo so it stops boosting... on a external waste gate the valve is pre turbo usually on the exhaust manifold like in pictures 2,and 3

RIGHT....your first question was "is the exhaust what's running the turbo" and now you're a John Deere Tractor Pro and you work on your buddies cars with turbos.
Do they have turbos that go against what every other turbo on the planet go by (uh...the exhaust) or did you just happen to forget.

You have experience riding a turbo'd 10 mil, but you still have to ask these questions.
