todd
i just got a set of cylinders that have a drag port to them. my question is, is that the intakes have been removed and after market intakes have been welded back on. was wondering if any one has heard of this, and what kinda reeds and cages they would be. they came withe cages and reeds just needing gaskets. theres also an adapter plate for each cylinder that adapts the stock intake boot size to them. thanks in advance. NYUK
they are probably set up for blaster reed cages.this was done before the cheetah.
sinisterboo
has to be blaster cages, like nyuk said, i had a set back when the only 4stroke sport quads were warriors and 300ex's, LOL> I seriously doubt they use the cr/trx250r cages. 2bzy2p
they usually do yz reeds when they do the conversion to big reeds.Tlke to jeff at F.A.S.T on here he has done big reed conversions.try looking up yz250 or 125 reed cages see if they bolt up..I have never heard of doing blasters.Only using blaster size pistons.looks like this to me http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YZ250-YAMAHA-1990-YZ-250-90-REED-VALVE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem562cf04ea5QQitemZ370121133733QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Edited September 19, 2009 by 2bzy2p

They are not blaster reeds..They do use the yz reeds.Trx250s have 6 bolts but the bigger 250r motors will go and use cr250s
todd
they appear to be the yz 250 reeds. has anyone been around a setup like this and if so how did they run? thanks

They fly if its set up right. they are yz250. did the head come with it by chance. The ones Ed did he had a stock head cut for them.
todd
they didnt come with a head just the cylinders reeds and the adapters
370banshee
thats most likely an ed toomey setup... toss those reed adaptors in the garbage and get the right reeds cages for it.. thats why the reed box conversion was done any was more reed area.. 2bzy2p
There are many builders who do the big reed conversion so i wouldnt suspect just one person did them.Yes they do seem to run better with bigger carbs. And the spacer is on there more then likely to keep your carbs off your clutch actuator so i wouldnt toss them out tell you have them on your bike and make sure your bowls are going to clear it.Plus sum builders prefer the spacer anyways.
