stroking
yeah.. I'll agree.. Its gonna take one MONSTER built raptor to keep up with a average 10mil cub on alky. Numbers dont lie. Post some track times. well i don't know about the 10mil cubs but i have seen a 10mil t-rex get beaten by a 804cc raptor 3 times...guy with the banshee thought he had a easy win so he bet big $2000 the first race and $500 the last two......sad day for him. i don't know about sand, because we don't race in it because traction, tire type, weight of bike will make a bigger difference. pavment is a much better test of motor to motor power. ex. in the sand i can have a smaller motor than you and beat you because i get more traction while your big motor just spins the tires and we race for money so its pavment or nothing down here. stroking
Just tell me what kind of numbers it runs in 300 foot sand.Considering since the fastest bikes at PS single cylinder 4 stroke unlimited ran 3.8 or 3.9 and the fastest in the 0-475 cc LIMITED (No NOS or Turbo) run 3.7s...I'd like to see that statement contradicted.I'm not talking about 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, etc.Planet Sand's events are the biggest stage for 300 foot of sand racing year after year. And I would bet that Raptor has nitro/turbo or a combo of both.A 10 mil banshee on methanol (cub cylinder, 68 bore) will put out 120 to 125HP all day long, probably 10 or so less torque.Easily, cheaply and reliably. And that's 465 cc's compared to over 700.Take a 10 mil DM which goes up to a 78 bore, won't even be close....Now, of course I'm talking aftermarket cylinders without turbos, nitro, etc. Just methanol.Put a large caracal, scimitar or large twister motor in compariable cc's (700 to 800) and that raptor will never, ever even be on the same track. Untuned or not. it was alcohol...nothing else don't get me wrong a banshee is super fast 4 the money, and given the fact that its been around so long there are alot of parts to make it go fast.....BUT don't for 1 second think that a 4 stroke can't beat them...there's alot of guys that have gotten there feels hurt thinking nothing could beat there banshee. as years go by 4strokes are getting faster and faster with just ONE piston and ONE carb. Post some track times. A 80-90hp drag 660 raptor will keep up with a 110-120hp drag banshee. I shouldn't say 660, we are referring to big bore 4 strokes here as well. I have seen it with my own two eyes though. Rooster built has one that was running heads up at Coos Bay last Labor day. He was running with cheetahs, twister small blocks, redlines bikes, he was competitive with everything out there. The torque on those fuckers makes em vicious like a diesel truck with a edge box or a quadzilla chip in it.

Well that's where you're wrong... if you paddle it enough and set up the chassis/clutch right, you don't spin with the bigger motor. It's all in the setup. 10 mil Trex, most of them are a joke. There are very few good running Trex setups out there. A guy on here has one....T_rex banshee I think. You can bolt on a cub and smoke a 10 mil trex easy.... There are more big motor banshee based bikes on pavement too...Siquiatra actually holds an ATV record...but it's a 10 mil Trex on so much spray it's ridiculous.... bada450r
Actually....I agree with him on that. you know dave those raptors are rare here in cali bro......i have not runned into something that fast....the only raptors or the fastest four stroke ive seen was beating a 380 honda[250r]that is next to perfect as far as set up goes...i didnt get a chance to race my 4mil cub that day aganst that raptor so i dont know if he would have beat me but my bike was beating that honda just by a few bikes...lowbuck should have a raptor that should be running tham good so we will just have to wait and see how his does... dajogejr
Different everywhere you go. My buddy has a Turbo YFZ on Methanol that will beat most of the smaller banshee motors, say....4 mil cub and smaller. I am not discrediting the big raptors making big power...but you can only get to a certain point, for now... And there isnt' a raptor based motor bike on the planet that will put down the numbers like a 800 cc twin based banshee motor... stroking, are you in Florida/Miami area? I know I've heard all about the street racing down there before. Sit down, stand up, etc. I've also heard no one tells what they actually have in their bikes...so a so called 4 mil could be a 14 mil, etc... In that case, and no offense to you...I don't offer much credibility to what people do or say down there. Its more lying and BS than racing. (idk if i spelled matoon correct) it will be a long time before the technology of 4 strokes catches up with the simply pure horsepower that 2 strokes are puttin out

shanYE west
I do consider a 90hp 660 based motor a "monster" build. It takes quite a bit to get a raptor to 90hp. A 4.1 is VERY respectable for a 4 stroke. I'm sure its a close run in the dunes.. but at a track they start to separate. I was running 4.1's with my 421 cub and I'm 220lbs. Everyone knows a 421cub is considered small by banshee standards for drag racing. The name of this thread is "Still king of drag?" At this point in time.. there is no 4 stroke atv based engine (of any size) that can hang anywhere near the bigger banshee based twins on a track. VGD
i have done both.....my raptor would not have been able to touch my small cub in a race, and it was almost a 80hp motor(660 based) and was spraying a 15hp shot. the other thing is the amount it costs. building my cub was MUCH less then my raptor(parts/porting), way more bang for your $.
