K&N Clamp Ons To Small?

Ok my girlfreind just ordered some K&N Clamp on filters for her 28mm Keihens, we have been having problems finding a carb that will fit due to interference with the stator side pipe. Well she ended up ordering some tapered 3in long filters with outies, my question is are these filters to small, will she sacrafice power, will she have to clean them more often? The specs on the filters are Product Style: Round Tapered Universal Air Filter

Base Outside Diameter: 3.125 in (79 mm)

Flange Inside Diameter: 2 in (51 mm)

Flange Length: 0.625 in (16 mm)

I ran those filters when I had Trinity pipes. I didn't notice any difference between those and the 6" round filters that Trinity supplied and didn't fit. I could go on about Trinity and their propsed solutions that they never provided but we all know they suck at customer service.

 

I had no issues with the smaller filters and I ran them for 3 years. It does change the intake track but I didn't notice any performance changes.
