deejaedub
OK, so i had just barely cleaned out my K&N filters, and put them back on my banshee. I made sure that I tightened the hell out of them. well i went to the dunes and on the way down Sand Mountain I lost both filters. Didn't know, and went up the other side. made it to the top no problem, but on the way down, the throttle stuck, almost like it was dying from lack of gas, but the tank was full. so i stopped at the bottom and one filter was bouncing around within the cage, and the other was missing. so we looked around and found it covered in sand at the base of the first hill. I looked at the carb, and much to my horror, the right carb slide was stuck wide open. i sprayed carb cleaner and knocked the side a little, and it wouldn't move. First question. How do I get the slide to close without damaging anything? second, I don't know how much dirt got in my engine if any. But how do I get rid of the dirt? and third, what do I have to do to keep those filters on!
Bansh-eman
pull the carbs and remove the slides. feel the slides and see if they have any burrs on them. if they do sand them off with so fine grit wet paper. the only way that your going to get all the sand out for sure is to slipt the motor and clean it. You can try to flush it out using gas and dumping it out, but your not going to have perfect results. make sure when you tighten the filters you dont go too tight, and if your clamp isnt seated nice and tight up around the bell of the carb your just going to have the filters continueing to fall off. slopoke
also make sure the flang of both the filter and carb is clean and free of oil. Like said above it you go to tight it will squeeze it off. Being oily will too

Thanks for your advice. Guess I don't have an easy solution for this one. Just another opportunity to learn how to rebuild my engine.
