figure8racer7463
Hey guys my buddy just bought an 01 Bombardier DS 650 all stock except for HMF pipe and silencer. Most of my mods are in my sig but i have added 18" razr MX's to the rear. Will i be able to beat him in a drag? He's talking mad shit about how i dont have a chance so i figured i'd get your opinion. THanks!

DS650's are real fun and torquey, but they are only about as fast as a raptor 660. And they are just more of a torque cruiser. They kinda remind me of a cadilac. haha. All my boys have ds650 from stock to running on nitrous, I was surprised as how fast a stock ds is. If it's running good and has it dialed in, it would be a good race. Just make sure you have your bike dialed in. Remember it's not all bike, rider's experience plays a big part. I've seen stock ported banshee with all bolt on's beat a non experience rider on a 7mil on alcohol. Good Luck, try and get some video see how it goes. dajogejr
If the guy on the DS can ride, you're going to lose. You've got a head, FMF pipes and a 1 into two carb. Because of your 18 inch rear tires...you MAY be able to pull on him out of the hole....maybe. But if he can ride at all...he's going to blow past you and not look back after you click a gear, maybe 50 feet into the race. Again, if you can ride. That DS probably has 20HP on you or so. I've also got a smaller rear sproket also so i may pull him off the line. Is there anything else i can do to beat him besides port work or a stroker? Think about the rear of a 12 speed....the largest sprocket make pedaling easy, the larger are harder to peddle but better for speed. Opposite the front. dajogejr
OOPS i meant smaller front sprocket That's better. Keep in mind...4 strokes are smooth and torquey...they are much easier to get out of the hole. If it were me...I'd race him for fun but leave some in the bag in case you need to. If he flat out beats you...well, it is your money. If I was a betting man, and rider skill were pretty close, I'd take the DS...

I will try to make the race as short as possible so that a holeshot might win it. How do the DS's compare to a 500 predator. We ride with one of those and the rider is way more experienced than me and i can usually get him by 1 or 2 lengths. The DS does have old worn out tires so that will help also. Thanks for the info! My nickname for Predators is a Predaturd. Done up...they are a good trail bike. They are heavy, slow...period. A DS bone stock should smoke a predaturd. We rode with a guy that had one all done up, shocks, ignition, NOS, you name it. he got spanked by a 2005 450R Honda with a pipe, air filter and jetted...and the 'turd was on the spray. Sounds like rider ability is going to be the biggest deciding factor. Thanks for the help.

Both bone stock. Yeah, the DS is quick, but I wouldn't say that it would be a good race. With equal riders his banshee should definitely take him.
