dajogejr
You can triple the power output of stockers....you can't even fathom that on a set of cubs. It's not even the same sport, team, arena, etc. Do not polish anything on the intake side. Incoming fuel/air charge needs to atomize properly for a good burn/explosion. When you polish the intakes or transfers, the fuel can bead up...not every efficient or performance worthy. It may look cool...but when's the last time somebody told you that the inside of your motor sure does look nice? Polish the exhaust all you want.... Whomever ported them has the tools to polish them, they didn't come back polished for a reason.
slopoke
HA good to know I wasted that bit of time. I won't do it again!!! Thanks. I figured it would atomize as it ran through the reeds. But that was just a thought. The beading makes since because that is what happens on the back of a carb if you look closely. I guess if I would have put a little thought in it I prob would have just polished the wheels or something....... Thanks for the help dj. i just bought the cubs. Look foward to seeing if they perform any better.
dajogejr
Think about water beading up on the paint of a freshly waxed car... I know...poor comparison, but...best I could come up with. If you have a smoking good set of running stock cylinders, drag ported, on a stock stroke...you'll notice a pretty decent improvement to a cleaned up 4 mil cub. If you have an average set of drag port stock cylinders on a stock stroke, the difference will be night and day. From this is fun...to holy shit my arms stretched almost as much as the smile on my face. I'll never forget my first ride on my 4 mil cub...coming from a dune/drag ported stock cylinder back ground. Night and day difference.... Then...when I went from my cleaned up 10 mil cub to my ported/case matched 10 mil...pretty good difference. Pulled much longer and harder on top. This was after two years and a ton of passes on the bike with just a clean up. Hundreds and hundreds of passes....
00tbanshee
when kevin ported the cub i had from a clean up to a full drag port it was damn close to a night and day difference.i picked up around 3-4 tenths and right around 5-6 mph in 500ft.don't get me wrong, a clean up cub runs well but imo not much better, if any, then a really good set of 4mil drag ported stockers. Yep, I gained a solid tenth in 300 feet and 2-4 MPH. I agree...however, there are only a select handful of builders than can truly make a drag port in a stocker see it's potential. Get your hands on one of those...you'll be in good shape. However, you're going to pay for it. A really, really good drag port is triple exhaust, boost port intakes and runs a solid 500 bucks or so just for the port work, bore/hone if needed. You can get a new 4 mil cub cylinder for 600 bucks? Go for it. All day long.
