motor trouble..

i was riding and the motor backfired.. and sounded like it was suckin air.. so i took the carbs and everything off thinkin it might be a reed problem.. wasnt anything wrong with the reeds.. i took the plugs off to chjeck compression... it has basicly no compression on the one side.. what the hell did i do :(

Sorry to say jesse but it sounds like that one side is toast, pull the head off and have a look see. But im warning you its proly not going to be a pretty sight.

 

Hope the Nikasil on that cub is not scored up any or its off to millinum they go :biggrin:

 

Did you do a leak down when you put it together?

 

Check squish?

 

What comp, timing and fuel did you run?

 

You re jet properly after you went to the OOF cpi's?

IMO, you should have checked for leaks with a leak down tester also jess...pull the head off and let me see...its 10 nuts bro..simple

ill do it tomorrow.. i dont have lights in the garage... i needa pull the gas tank off to do that dont i?.... give me a better view

 

Nope you just have to push and wiggle it around as hard as you can :laugh: :laugh:

 

No you don't have to pull the tank off...its easier with it off as theres more room to work, but you can pull the head of in 10 mins after you drain the coolant first.

 

Simple job man.
