yambretta350
Hello all, new to the forum and to the banshee. Well, kind of. I have a 85 RZ350 and was thinking about building a banshee road racer. Nothing too crazy (yet). I know the RZ and the shee share basically the same engine without the YPVS and smaller cooling jacket on the shee, but is there something different about the transmissions? Would it be a good idea to put an RZ trans in the shee to get more top end? Flat out on the road what does the banshee top out at?
zach45
i think there the same or have very very little differences
LiftdT4R
I believe the gear ratios are different. The RZ is geared a bit higher (for the road) and the shee is geared a little lower. They will interchange without any machining, and a lot of people prefer the RZ trans.
RZBansheeMan
The RZ trans is a lil bit taller if I remember right, (I would have to look them up again). The RZ trans gearing is a wider ratio also. It was designed for onroad use obviously and the RZ Powervalved motor has more torque for pulling the wider ratio's, but they also have less rolling resistance than an ATV. For ATV use make sure to use the RZ shift forks and drum, the forks have roller bearings for the guide pins where the Banshee just has steel solid guid pins. Really smoothes up the shifts. Yaxy
As a current owner of both an RZ shee and a regular shee i agree that the RZ transmission smoother. On both bikes I run 14-41 sprockets and they are very similiar through most of the gears but the RZ is a bit higher. The biggest difference I see with the 14-41 gearing is from 5th to 6thu in the RZ. Once in 6th gear the RZ just want to go! Chris
