Snopczynski
Thinking about getting rid of the old girl, looking at a GMC Sierra w/4.8L. Looks like about 9K off sticker (39K) with incentives, but am I the only one that thinks 30K is still too damn much money for a run-of-the-mill pickup? I'd almost hate to buy a brand new truck cause in 6 or 7 years it'll have like 80K on it and the body will be rotting off due to all the salt on the roads from November thru May. That seems a little steep. My 2007 Dodge Quad cab 2500 diesel was $33,000.00 when I bought it new a few years ago.

Dinner
I don't really follow the whole cash for clunkers program, and I don't even know if we have it in Canada  But anywho, do you just get cash straight up, or does that cash HAVE to go towards a newer vehicle that they help you pick? Just curious cause I have 3-4 vehicles sitting around that I would give them if I got that much money for them :geek:

You prolly do not have it there, they take ur old vehicle and basically fry the motor and smash the body, seems like a hell of a waste on good body parts. I could be wrong on the body parts. They give you 3500-4500 plus any other incentives they have going.
dajogejr
Chevy is the most expensive truck out there. Sticker vs. what you pay is always different... My 08 RAM Larmie stickerd at 41 or 42K. After the lease is up and when I purchase it I'll have paid about 28K for it. There are a ton of deals out there, but cash for clunkers is supposed to end Labor Day weekend. I also read that 80% of the rebates being submitted by the dealers for the 3500 to 4500 are being denied. If the dealers aren't following the letter of the deal...we're gonna be in the shitter again real quick....just watch.

dajogejr
They announced yesterday it's being stopped Monday, instead of waiting till Labor Day. 80% of the rebate checks are being denied. It could be something very simple as a clerical error, etc. The Gov. will give them ample time after Monday to sort through the ones that got kicked back to re-submit them. The Gov. original estimates on selling new vehicles because of this program was 200,000. As of now, they've sold more than twice that and they estimate it to be around 750,000 when it all said and done. Just goes to show you, our Government can't run a business to save their skin....
