alot of octain boosters are crap you can run them but they are more than likely just goingto make the motor run hotter if you are going to run an additive to boost octain look up REAL LEAD I have run this stuff acouple of times and its not cheap like 18 bucks a quart but it works decent but all in all if you need high octain just get race gas and mix it to the proper octain you need

octane supreme 130 contains tetraethyl lead. Thats what I use. Been running it since jan 07 181 psi per cyl 93 octane unleaded with 3oz per gallon. works great. any other octane booster seemed to be all hype, like dajogejr said I wouldnt trust them.

yea its really crap, you would be better off using some xylene in the tank

you are better off using toluene than xylene. did a bunch of research on this. both are aromatics, and thus, "dry" it is safe to go up to 40% aromatic total, and pump usually contains 20% aromatics, including toluene. 100% toluene found @ hardware stores $12 or less a gallon is prettu clean, vs. xylene, which is a "dirty" aeromatic. 0ver 40% and you need to start adding a compatible lube, like lead, or the lead substitutes to combat the dryness. if you love your banshee, though, just go and buy some av gas, which is properly formulated and held to higher federal standards than unregulated race fuels, or pump. btw, toluene has an R+M/2 octane rating of 114

Not to beat on you too bad, especially since it seems like you are really trying to learning something, but what you just described really only raises the octane rating at the expense of the fuel's energy density.

In other words if you go that route (mixed to the limits you noted), you will have less detonation, but you will also make less power. :geek:

But the type of test the fuel goes through is different. It might be 100 octane but it isn't rated or tested the same way regular gasoline or race fuel is. You can buy 98 octane in foreign countries but it isn't high octane by our fuel standards.

Av gas is designed to be burnt at a high altitude and in an engine that runs at a lower rpm. It is not a performance fuel for cars. You could probably mix a gallon of kerosene or diesel in with 4 gallons of gasoline and it would keep your motor from melting down. Doesn't mean it is right though.

i buy av gas from a local airport and met the owner, he showed me the tech sheet on it. the av gas by me is actually 108 octane and it is graded my the normal gas standards.
