FireHead Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 I hate putting down a company but everything i have got from BOSS i have certain issues with. I want to throw my oversized set of boss bowls as far as i can right now cause there so bulky and hit my case. My carbs are sideways right now causeing my filters to not fit right. As soon as i get done nick nacking with some clutch issues i will upgrade to a different set of bowls. I'm liking these Chariot Bowls. Love there products i have a chariot timing plate. What's the difference in these bowls and the K&T bowls (Just asking they look similar) I am not necessarily putting the company down, but atleast one of their products has some issues. I am curious about the K&T bowls as well. :geek: Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 Those washers are a great idea, ill be picking up a set for sure. As for Boss products, Ive only owned their billet bowls and intakes. The bowls are junk and leak more than others (guess the washers fix this) and they hit the inside of the cases like cody was saying it cocks the carbs sideways. I must say that their intakes have no flaws and have worked great for me for almost half the price of other brands. I have chariots old style bowls now and havn't had a trip on them yet so I don't know what the lowdown is yet. I'm sure as with all chariots quality of parts they will be straight up baller status. Keep up the good work and I'll keep buying from you. Quote

KaosBanshee44 Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 That's right i couldn't remember why those spacers were with the bolts for my intakes. I got the intakes and carbs from you. Where did you put the spacer between the reed cage and the intakes? Quote
dajogejr Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 That's where I would put them. Guys...not trying to be a jerk...think it might be time to take this question elsewhere instead of adding on to Chariot's thread? If Jerry doesn't mind, so be it...even though this is not a for sale ad, it is a Product thread, not a technical thread. Just a thought... Quote

My post should have gone elsewhere. Just like the Chariot products I own I've have no doubt your new bowls are top knotch. If the mods want to move or clean this thread up - Cool Edited July 15, 2009 by Tedder Quote
locogato11283 Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 chariot, do you wanna start a new thread and ill re-title this thread to address the billet bowl leaking issue?? there is good info here, but it kinda muddied up your post.. Quote
dajogejr Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 I'd start with post 5, move them all to a new thread labeled Billet Bowls Leaking, but keep the response from Chariot in the original thread (Post number 8) Quote

Don't need Jerry's OK - He deserves the respect of not having his original subject trashed. Edited July 15, 2009 by Tedder Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 I agree as well i apologize for busting it up i didn't realize it was in the product review section. Sorry Jerry and Dave With that said great work on the bowls and everything Chariot does, Great work no doubt! Quote
FASTOYS Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Chariot, Curios why there is no drain plug/jet screw in the bottom to get to main jets etc.?? Thanks Tedder for the great idea on the washers! Quote
Chariot Performance Posted July 20, 2009 Author Report Posted July 20, 2009 I don't mind all the discussion in this thread staying here. It completely missed me that ours could also leak around the bolts which hold the plate to the carb. I just adjusted the program so that the bolts (which tend to leak) will tighten down on the aluminum forming a good seal. The problem with other's bowls and our first bowls would have been if there was a cutter mark through the surface that the bolt head tightens down to. I haven't heard of any of ours leaking but this change in our program should eliminate the possibility. I have never seen K&T bolws so I can't compare them to ours. We don't have the plugs on the bottom of the bowls for the main jet changes because the effective volume of fuel available to the main jet would be drastically reduced. They would also present clearance issues when making the bowls as large as they are. Quote
joee20002 Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 Not to take away from Jerry's (Chariot) product as I've got some of his stuff and it's all been first rate as far as quality and workmanship is concerned but I want to address the leaky bowl problem you guys are having. Over the years I've gone round and round with certian Banshee issues while building our asphalt bikes and drippy bowls is one that I finally got worked out after years of messing around. The fuel is migrating up the threads of the forward bolts in the upper plate that adapts the bowl to the carb. Our local hardware store sells small hard paper washers and stainless button head bolts that have fixed the leaking 100% of the time. I tried all kinds of things including sealers etc in the past with limited sucess but this WILL fix it. I've had no luck posting pictures in the past so if someone wants to put it up here send me an email address. Hope this helps  i just got me some of the fiber washers but what size screws are you using? Quote
Chariot Performance Posted July 23, 2009 Author Report Posted July 23, 2009 i just got me some of the fiber washers but what size screws are you using? If you are asking for our bowls, you won't need the washers. It is possible on some of our first style bowls that there was a surface line which would allow a very slight leak. On our new bowls the surface where the culprit bolts seat against is very flat and smooth. The bolts will seal against the surface on their own. Jerry Those bolts are 4mm Quote
