bassmaster345
Went and bought me a compression tester today at sears and here is what I got- 115 psi left and, 116 psi right on cold engine. My engine is on the stock bore and stock pistons with no port work, pro design cool head, 22cc domes, boyesen reeds,PT Mids, and 1350 above sea level. Are these acceptable numbers? Would I gain more power by going to 20cc domes?
jbooker82
Yea I would say they are acceptable. Here is a chart at noss machine. http://www.nossmachine.com/banshee_heads.htm The 20's should be right on if your wanting to only run pump premium fuel. Generally you shot for 150 psi of compression on pump gas. josh
bassmaster345
If I go to 20cc domes will I have to re-jet?
dlnoss
If you are riding at that elevation or higher, you should be fine with 20cc domes running premium pump gas. If you go to Little Sahara, I'm pretty sure it's a couple hundred feet higher. The exception would be if you advanced your timing very much. The 20cc domes should raise the compression by 20 to 25 psi and you should feel a noticeable increase in power. You shouldn't need to re-jet but I would do some plug chops to be sure. -David
