OVERRIDE ?

Recommended Posts

does a override have to have the drum cut also to work or can the stock drum work if the dog ears are cut ?

i have one here that just won't shift into 4th without trouble.....its suppose to be a 1-3 M 4TH but its not working

i think the drum is the problem because there is nothing wrong with the gears or forks.

so i want to try a stock drum IF it will work.

I am pretty sure the drum is cut on all override trannies. I am sure a stock drum would still run the forks into the correct position it just wouldn't as easily shift like an override is supposed to.

An override will not work without the cut drum, you may want to try the shift shaft mod before changing drums if you see nothing wrong. I don't have a pic but basically you mod the shaft by cutting about.020 with a die grinder off the area where the little stop pin hits the inside of the bracket thats welded on the end of the shift shaft(under the clutch cover). Just mod the side that contacts on an up shift. Hope thats helps

i need a pic of what your talking about.

also there is a spring on the shaft that holds the forks in place.......the spring is on the side closest to the clutch....is that the correct side for that spring to be ?

I am pritty sure it says on the F.A.S.T web site that mod is not recomended with a override

There should be three springs total, one on the left then center and then right side of the fork shaft.

that may be the problem cause there is only one thats on the right.

where can i get the springs that are needed......i hope thats the problem because this is alot of work splitting those cases!!

ANYONE GOT A PIC OF THERE OVERRIDE SITTING IN THE CASE???!!!

Not sure where to get the little springs, must be a trade secret. They are different heights though.
