not that it cant be done, but why when a new adjustable stator plate is so cheap, would you wanna bother with the stocker? you wont have the adjustment marks and itll just be ghetto rigged. i really recommend just buying an aftermarket one from one of the site sponsors.

Do it yourself, save a couple bucks, times are tough.

First of all, you need to make a mark on the stator plate to use as a reference for advancing the timing. Once the stator cover and flywheel are removed (see Q#47), etch a mark on the stator plate on the right side (or towards the rear of the bike) of the stator plate where the upper and lower case halves meet. thank you, exactly what i was looking for. i just couldn't remember where i saw that. thanks locogato also but yeah the deal is unemployed so im doing what i gotta do. just being impatient a little, plus lets me put $$$ on something else. should turn out good i have the resources to do a good job and not some choppy job.
