How much comp is to much

stockkers are between 22-25cc's, and .030 is the point where you will have to have the head re-chambered to prevent piston slap. coolheads don't really do much for cooling, but you can switch the domes to whatever you want. trust me, 21-20's will be fine on pump, and even smaller @ higher elevations. noss machine's website has a dome chart, if you don't believe me.

I got this bike with what looks to be shaved about .20 with that Im running about 140psi at 3500 feet. I do ride at sea level some times to and have never checked my comp there but seems to run fine on pump gas but maybe I'm pushing my limit there. What my plan is to put a cool head on this bike and put the shaved head onto my 88 when I get the cylinders back from being ported.

man you nailed that one one the head and if the funding was there i would have one now. Anyone want to donate to the poor little white boy foundation.

Ive got a set of ported stkers that overall run better then a cub in my opinion. They might not make the as big numbers but they dont rob your lowend either. They are for stk stroke they can be bought reasonable if somebody wants them. If I had to guess i would say they are making around 65-70hp with cpi or trinty pipes.

Well thanks for the offer but I'm getting my cylinder ported right now for my bike but i'll keep you in mind if the wife wants to juice hers up a little more.

what type of porting, who ported them?? what bore they on? and how much?? i am interested

I dont remember the guys name that ported them they have something engraved on the side of them but ill have to look and see what it is the bore is 65mm and is very fresh but they have been sitting for a while so they would need a hone.If I remember right the exhaust is around 192 and the transfers are really opened up and raised too. The intake has been cleaned up pretty good as well. I was running these before the crank and cubs and these are a running set of jugs like i said i liked them better overall then the cub.

I was running 170psi on pump gas with a shaved head no problems. Pulled it apart for trans work and found the stock crank was coming apart. I just built one with a cool head and 19cc dome 180psi i will let you know tomorrow if it stays togather it has a welded crank. about 500 feet above sea level.

well, now. that changes things. you will need to figure the compression ratio on the new porting specs. i can't remember the cutoff for pump93, but i think it was about 10.4:1 to go strait race fuel. maybey someone else can chime in off the top of their head?

I don't think I was clear on what bike I'm thinking about the head for. I want to put a cool head on my wifes bike which is .80 over, stock porting and timing and put the head off of her bike which is shaved .20 onto mine when I get the jugs back from being ported

Yall can do what u want but 145-150 is about the limit on pump any builder will tell u that as far as the porting goes it wont change it a whole bunch about 5psi at the most is what i seen. And if you are going to run it long especilly at high compression welding the crank is a must they are known to come apart. I would say 140-145 with 4 degress on the timing is about all I would go on pump. I may be wrong but if i remember right the stockers are 24cc and u gain about 10psi for each cc you drop.
