Single Carb Setup

Your running a main jet 8 sizes smaller than what we run in them?
The jets might be a little smaller than "normal" but they don't seem alarmingly small to me. I did numerous plug chops to verify. It might be a 160, but I know its right around there. Hard to remember exactly after changing jets and needle setting 5 or 6 times. Bear in mind, I'm running a PJ, I don't know what you're used to tuning. The couple air strykers I've jetted also tend to like small jets. That's jetted for ~2500ft. Next week I'll be at ~1000ft so I'll be rejetting agian.

I can't comment on the bottom end difference it made on mine. The only time I rode mine with dual carbs was when it was still the previous owners and was a long swinger ice drag bike with OOF's, 33pwk's, methanol, 18cc domes, and drag gearing. The only reason I went with a single was becuase the bike didn't come with carbs and I had a 34pj and some metal laying around. So total cost was $65 for the carb boot and custom cable compard to ~$200 for a new pair of carbs. Besides, being a broke college student at the time, any money saved meant more beer money...

Are you running race gas? What octane, and mixture percent (50/50, 100%)????? Your running a main jet size in that carb that people usually run on a twin carb setup.

i like my single carb setup and it is easy to tune. buy the intake and try it with 1 of the carbs you have, and if you dont like it sell the 35's and get smaller duals. mine dynoed 57hp with the midrange port it has. it has great low end, really snappy. the 35mm would be plenty big though i think.

Nope, 93 octane, 140psi compression, 40:1 klotz R50. That may be, but I can tell you it's not lean. I got 4 years out of my last top end so I'm not concerned.

It's a personnel choice. I like the simplicity. Mine are trail bikes one just put togather with a trinty set up and 33mm pwk the other I have had for years it is a moto-fast set up with a 38mm Lectron which I would not take any money for it. It runs good sure there are faster machines but I handle most 450's . Just took it apart for trans problems and it still has 170 psi compression after 5 years of running and I have twenty year old that has rode the shit out of it. I truly think the 2 into 1 engines last longer.

Thanks: Snope the latest build mentioned above is running great.

Can't wait to get the Lectron back and do a comparision. I wish there was a dyno in or near Cincinnati just for testing such things.

Just my 2 cents

I had a few moments of free time to start to rejet last night for ~500ft, 60% humidity, and 78 degrees. My last jetting was at ~2500ft, 100% humidity, and 97 degrees. I also took off the dial-a-jet as it was leaking. Went from a 160 main up to a 182. Kept the needle on 4th clip. I'd like to try my other 2 needles and a 185 or 190 main just out of curiosity; maybe tomorrow. Plugs are medium chocolate brown. Does that sound a little more like what you're used to seeing Snop?
