Did I get duped on domes?

Recommended Posts

So, I kicked over 145psi on each cylinder tonight before deciding I'd toss in 19 cc domes to bring the compression up and bit and still be safe with 94 pump gas...

I threw in the domes that had 19 scratched on the sides of them and I kick over the exact same number.. Has anyone else ever bought Noss domes that were labeled incorrectly? Or is my luck just that bad? I dont think there is anything wrong with my compression tester..

Thanks for any input

Why don't you check the actual displacement of the dome? The down and dirty method is to use a syringe instead of a burette. Some here can walk you through the procedure. Best to see what you have....

I'm certainly 'good enough' to stand behind my products. What was your compression before the 19cc domes. What size domes were they and who made them? How much, if any, were the ports raised when the porting was done? Did the compression gauge thread in as far as a spark plug does?

Hey Dave

I was kicking over 145psi with 20's in, switched to 19's and kicking over 145 as well.. Not sure how much the ports were raised, the compression gauge is threading all the way in and I have faith in it.. 99% sure they are both your domes. I bought the 19's from a member on here and had the 20's from you a while back.

No offence to noss but i have had a similar situation with cub domes,I built a cub for some guy who wanted to run pump gas,he got the domes from passion they said 22cc on the side of them but kicked 170psi static comp, they shipped out new ones at no cost to him but yeh I have seen it.In 50 motor jobs it only happened once

I'd be glad to cc the domes if you want. If you check them, put a spark plug in them fill them with a fluid with low surface tension. I use rubbing alcohol.
