4wheeling
Hello fellow riders... My friends and I are going to be making the trip down from western canada to Winchester Bay for the first time in a couple weeks. I was wondering if you who are in the know can answer a couple questions for me so that there are no supprizes for us when we get down there. 1) What is the best campsite to stay at that is closest to the dunes so that we can still push our bikes out at night and go for some night rides without too much problem. If you have a phone number or website address for the campsite that would be appreciated so I can call and make some reservations. 2) Is there a OHV permit office near by as we all need to renew our permits this time down to Oregon? If you know the address for the place that would be awesome. 3) Is there a bike shop there where we can get flags? Ours are old and we need to get new ones. 4) Is there a place where we can get a set of paddles? One buddy does not have any yet and wants to get a pair when we are down there. Thanks in advance guys!

YamahaMama
1) What is the best campsite to stay at that is closest to the dunes so that we can still push our bikes out at night and go for some night rides without too much problem. If you have a phone number or website address for the campsite that would be appreciated so I can call and make some reservations. You can go to www.duneguide.com they have all the info about the Oregon dunes. I just go to Google and type in Winchester bay, OR. If you have a trailer Discovery Point is nice full hook up but you have to call to make a reservation, there is also Half moon Bay which is a newer campsites that you will have no hook up and it is owned by the city I believe and I am not sure how to get reservations for there. They are both very close to the dunes you will have to ride down the road regardless. One more thing they do also have sand camping if you have a 4x4. 2) Is there a OHV permit office near by as we all need to renew our permits this time down to Oregon? If you know the address for the place that would be awesome. One word the Pelican it has everything. It is right off HWY101 and is on the road to the dunes. The permits are $10 for Oregon OHV tags they last for 2 years. You will just need your VIN #'s for the bikes that need to be registered. 3) Is there a bike shop there where we can get flags? Ours are old and we need to get new ones. The Pelican and there is a new one across the street that has parts as well I just don't remember the name of it. I am actually going there this weekend. 4) Is there a place where we can get a set of paddles? One buddy does not have any yet and wants to get a pair when we are down there. Get a pair off line way cheaper... If you have time. Go to Rockymountainatv or sandtoyzunlimited.com If you don't you will pay out the ass for a set. Good luck and have fun if you have anymore questions PM me! Edited June 18, 2009 by YamahaMama

alf44
half moon bay is first come first serve and has group camping and is located just across the street from the dune access. There are several atv shops once you get into reedsport, there is also a onestop shop as you turn onto the road into winchestewr bay. discovery point has cabins and rv camping, a mini mart and a atv shop. you have to push your quad out of the park after 10pm i believe. it may be a little later. have fun its my favorite place to ride also.
