I ran a 1980's Ford Escort GL in the 4 cylinder figure 8 demo derby last year. It seemed to run really well but it couldn't take hits very well. I even put spray foam in the front fenders. All it took was just one hit on my right front fender to put me out of the race. I was just wondering what kind of car should I look for to run this year and I want it to last at least a couple races. I know it really matters on how well I drive but I want a car that can be beaten up and still run. Preferably a rear wheeled drive car.

any wagon is good...

Would it be too long? The figure 8's here are in mud and are fairly short. My friend just told me that a Ford Pinto would be really good. It would be a tank pretty much but I'm not sure if I can find one of those around.

exactly an old 60-70 wagon has shit load of metal and good heavy metal thats what all the guys around here use for pure demo derbies.

also isnt spraying foam illegal to do.

so is dualframeing, welding chains to the top the frame, spools in the rearend , double tires

but if the winners do it everyone has to.

yes pinto wagons or sedans make good compac class cars.

all it take to win is a lot of MONEY and luck

the guys that win just run around an tap cars enough they dont get red flagged so just learn how to avoid big hits make a few small hits and outlast everyone...

chrysler imperials are THE BEST DERBY CAR EVER MADE.shame they are illegal in most derbies.they are tanks without tracks.one of my buddies used to run asphalt derbies and he loved early 60's fords with y block engines(292)most common.they run a long time without coolant.
